ticking noise

New guy here, alittle patience please. I have had a ticking noise from the engine area on my 2003 since it was new. ( Now has 29000 on it). They have replaced an injector, injector pump, gears, and camshaft, still has noise. has anyone else had this? New to diesle engines, but seems it has lost alittle power since camshaft replacement. Any help would be great.

First, fill out your profile to let us know more about your truck. Are you sure its coming from the engine?... it was common for the 6sp to have a click or rattle in neutral with the clutch pedal released. Hope this helped

Run a search on the tick... lots of 03's do this, mine included (I think). I believe it to be injector and/or injector pump noise.



If the truck is running well, making good power, has good economy, who cares if it ticks?

The ticking doesnt really bother me that much, but the dealer has gone to alot of trouble to get rid of it. I am afraid that it is something that might bite me in the butt later.

with as many times as it has been in for service it is well enough documented that there was a concern and if there is a problem later that was caused by it they should fix it with out a problem. at least that is how the ford dealer I work at is. they love me for driving a dodge. I told the service manager that the reason i drove a dodge is because I work on broken fords all day why would I won't to drive one.
