I have a 98 dually with 104,000. I recently heard a ticking from engine while at idle. The problem does not occur till the engine is warm. Dodge told me it was the clutch throw out bearing, they replaced it not the problem. They then tell me it is the fuel pump, they replaced it. This worked for two days then started back up. They are still trying to figure the problem. any ideas on what this is?????????

Same problem

A friend of mine has the same problem with his 98 dually, he plans to take it to the Cummins dealer next week. Anyone know what the problem is before he gives Cummins his money?

ticking noise

i had a tick was worse at normal temperature, turned out to be serpentine belt. . check it out may save you some money. hope this helps. :) :)

Interesting... I would have guessed valve adjustment as well; BTW, 20k is getting close to re-adjustment time. Glad you got it solved. Hope Dodge didn't charge for the clutch guess...
