Oxy/Acetylene Cutting torch Questions

Need to clean Frame and paint it. Ideas?

ok. . i've been drooling over several tig machines for a long time now, but now locally 2 are on sale and my interests are up again. .

now i know some here have the miller syncrowave 180sd, that is one machine i am looking at getting, but i am also looking at the miller dynasty 200dx. it is about 50% more money[:(] but weighs about 1/5'th as much[:)], and can be run on 120v if i decide to take it somewhere to do some welding out of my garage/workshop. the features of the machines seem similar, and the duty cycles are about the same.

any opinions???

[nice christmas present/boxingday present for me maybe???? :D]

tig machines

What are the internal componants made of ?? Copper is better than AL componant wise. Duty cycle is important but the 180 to 200 is close enough for that. Do buy quality it is better in the long run. Do shop around for prices when you are going to buy it some Ackland stores are very good to deal with. Get the store to give you the fact sheets on them for you to read.

Enjoy your new welder.

Is that one Chinese restaurant still open at the far side of Oshawa border that seves 54 different dishes??? Oo.

I looked at them both too, and decided to go with a 250 Sycrowave. The duty cycle is what I was looking at with them machines, and since I have welded with a 250 or a 350 for many years now, it just felt right to have my own in the shop. Although mine you can't just pick up and move from building to building... ... ... . but I still love it.

MIG welder

I have a 250 Thermaldyne Mig welder. I have made bases for the wood stove, 5 KW generator and the Mig welder and used the ??? 4. 10 ??? ?? sized tires so that the 3 things have common sized tires will have to finish it in the summmer. That will make moving them easier from now on. If you need movable handles try the 2x2x0. 125 wall tube the deep unistrut fits very well for this.

I own a 250 Syncrowave, but have used alot of inverter machines including the Dynasty your looking at recently. If you've got the extra cash do it once and buy the Dynasty. That machine still amazes me. I like the ability to pull power off anything anywhere, just plug it in as your only limited by the receptacle type( keep lots of pigtail adapters). Also the pulse, high freq. , wave balance work as well as any other shop machine I've ever used, just a whole lot more portable. Inverters are alot more durable these days as we use them in all kinds of environments in construction. It will weld 3/32 rod and TIG pretty well on 110V just with a low duty cycle and possible frequent trips to the breaker box. In my opinion Syncrowaves are dinosaur pigs

Miller Dynasty Oo. Oo.

I've got a Synchrowave 180SD and it serves me quite well. However, for AC work I would certainly like the arc control and the built in pulser that the Dynasty inverter machine has. The weight and the ability to run on different line power is a big plus too.

Humm... . since you're looking at inverters anyway... ... have a look at the Miller Aerowave... . oooooooo, very tasty :D :D

I bought a Thermal Arc TA-185 on ebay. If you check out the Hobart Welding forum and even the Miller forum everyone that has one raves about them. It is an inverter 185amp AC/DC welder so it is nice and small. It comes with everything you need to start welding except the gas. It is directly comparable to the Miller 200DX but $1000 cheaper. They can be had on ebay for about $1675 with free shipping. I love using it! You won't be disappointed!

Do some reading here :)

And yes they are approved for use in Canada. I had no problem importing mine.
