I just took "Horace" into our local Dodge dealer. His Cummins was making an aweful ticking noise that I first noticed a little bit of on Saturday afternoon. I pulled the fiver home (about 12 miles) on Sunday and happened to be going past the dealership when I decided to have it checked out.

The service manager was a clown - he listened to the engine ad talked with a tech. about it, then they both turned around and told me I needed a long block, laughing the whole time. I expect nothing less from this crew, even thoogh they are the best I have ever do work on our vehicles.

Anyway, the tech. says he thinks it's just a valve that needs adjustment,

Any ideas???????????

It's an '03 that has 116,000 miles, doesn't use any oil and has just been washed.

Probable needs a valve adj. I think the service manual calls for one @ 100k, since you're at 118 . . . has it been done? It's not a hard job, at least on my 2nd gen, hardest part is getting the valve cover off and then back on. There's got to be someone near you that can lend a hand over a few cold ones. Where you at anyway?

Thanks for the reply.

I didn't realize that this thread was for absolutely disabled trucks, not my petty valve problem. SORRY!

But, at any rate, valves were adjusted - I'll do it myself the next time and save $300. 00.
