TiM & DHRA pulling ? for pullers & fans

for the fans: would you rather watch street or pro street?

For the 67 other street diesel trucks that were also at muncie and pulled. do you agree that it is fair that the pro street winner was paid double what the street winner was paid when they only had 1/3 of the trucks that we did?

We had 67 or 68 trucks out of the 75 for a "full" street class. Just doesn't seem right to me.

thanks

You are right. Majority of the entry money was from street class... majority of it went to the pro and mod classes. BS if you ask me. I was told several times it going to be good a payout, not like Muncie or Scheid's in the past.

I thought the unlimited trucks where impressive and probably the main reason I went out there. they where worth any payout they got. As far as the pro street payout being twice as much as the street diesel no that just doesnt sound fair. At least not from what I seen there. The street diesels where just as much fun to watch as the pro streeters where. IMHO

I will have to agree that was not one of their better ideas. But then again there were a few things I didn't agree with how they were run this year, but I will keep my mouth shut, I didn't have a truck entered this year, so I can't say much. But I will say this, it had better be ALOT better next year, or they definetly won't be getting my entry money next year. And the 15 bucks a head per day was a little outrageous, considering we were told that, that money was going to help pay the winners, and then find out they reniged on that and the winner didn't get paid nearly what they were supposed to.

are there only 4 people out there that feel like they got kinda screwed? if so i appreciate the support that i have gotten but will have to seriously think long and hard before i return to either DHRA event. thanks

I was far from getting any money for my placing but i am very disapointed in hereing that the pro-street guys got a better pay-out. I was not impressed by the pulling ability of the pro-street trucks over us in the street class with the exception of Milby's truck which i know will be in most of the street classes this year at the rest of the pulls. DHRA better re think there pay-outs. Hell if modified gets a lot more i think a few of us should just run modified because of their lack of entries and their problems with breaking.

I also have a problem with sitting in a long line to wait and be tec'd while a few big name street pullers dont wait in line and pull right up to be tec'd. Thanks to the dhra for blocking of the line and letting those guys in who didnt make it to the track as early as others and didnt wait in line like the rest of us. All i know is if ya start using politics with an organization like this you will loose the numbers.

Payouts

Street Diesel

1st $500

2nd $300

3rd $200

4th $100

5th - 10th $75

Pro Street

1st $600

2nd $400

3rd $300

4th $150

5th $100

Modified

1st $1000

2nd $500

3rd $300

I paid out more than 100% of the pay in to help boost the Modified payout. I took 200 from the rookie and used the rest to pay for that massive trophy for Lisa Cole, winner of the rookie class.

I apologized in another website about the payout, you are all right, I got caught up in the fact that we were able to payout more than we ever have. But the hook fees should stay in the class. So for Scheid's event we are doing the following:

Street hook fee $30, 100% of that money pays that purse

same with the other classes, but we will be supplementing the pro street and modified purses with sponsorship.

As for the politics, that stuff should stay in the white house! If you have a complaint, put it in writing and send it to the DHRA corporate HQs.

Thanks to all that pulled, you put on a great show and thanks for your input on how to make things better! We'll see everyone in Canfield!

Why should a truck in the street class be paid more than a Pro street or Modified truck, no matter how many trucks are registered. What competition, anywhere, pays the top dollars to the lowest class? I am curious.

How much were they paid ???????????????

MFunderburgh

How about if they just drop the street class,or maybe since we pro street trucks had such crappy attendance,we just merge back into the street class, why not we have plates and insurance, just like you. This will give us more time to drink beer and WHINE goes terrible with beer, and that is the only class that is complaining. I have been to many pulls run alot worse than that one,for no money and no spectators. If it was so horrible don't come back. Our gang had a blast, even with my crappy pull, and busted rear diff. Sorry guys if I rambled on I have just Heard about enough from the CRYBABIES.

Redram1 aren't ya being kinda harsh??? wow

I had fun and if it is about the money we all are in the wrong line of play so to speak. The money weather it be a lot or a little means very little with the investment that the pullers put in to the trucks and the bigger the class the more money it takes. If you can't go out TO and HAVE fun then what are we pulling for?? It sure is not a profitable business. The payout could be more and also could be worse. Who cares if anyone is watching. Can't people voice there opinions ??

Craig

The thing I do not understand is why are you complaining about the money. If you got into this thing for the $ then I think you are really screwed. I agree the split was not equal, but still this is a new thing with DHRA . Changes have to be made but to say I won't be back is a little finale. The wrong attitude I think. Instead of squawling on here why not just call Eric and tell him your feeling. I'm not a member of DHRA but common since says this is not the place to make changes in any orgainization. Proper ways are there to do things. I learned that myself.

Voice you thoughts but to say "I won't be back"? That just sounds a little juvenile.

Now, rethink what you said. See there... ... . now it's better.

re.

Sorry if I sounded harsh, but I think the DHRA did a very good job of things, and yes I agree there needs to be some fine tuning,But I know I have been to some really crappy pulls, and I know you have too Craig. This is gonna be a good thing and it will get alot better. At the end of the day all the DHRA staff was whooped,Tec and officals included, and no one has said hey guys nice job, just a bunch of complaining. Thats just the way I saw it maybe I'm wrong. Hey Craig thanks again for bringing up those parts.

ok here is my reply. i never started pulling for the money. as craig said, i would be in the wrong line. the payout was to be with a 75 truck class $1000 for first place. we had 67 or 68 trucks. in the drivers meeting we were told that the payout in the street class was going to be $300 for first. that is what seemed way off kilter to me. we almost had our 75 truck class. i just thought that our (street) class should have been paid out pretty close to what was advertised. not trying to "whine" about it. sorry if it seems that way. when i tried to discuss it with one of the dhra officials i was told that "no one comes to see the street class. " but that is niether here nor there.

Preston, i will be at more DHRA events because i believe that Eric is working hard to make the Pro Pulling Series a good thing. and he has my support. Sometimes you have to go a little hard to get a response. I enjoy pulling and i really enjoy pulling in front of a crowd that really appreciates it.

Cumminspower01, i was going off of the info that we were given at the 4:30pm drivers meeting. i apologize at posting false information.

Redram 1, sorry about your luck on busting your rear end pulling the truck off of the trailer. at least it happened at the hotel and not the pull. i am not sure what the pro street payout was supposed to be. but if ya'll would have had your 75 trucks i hope that ya'll would have been paid the full amount. as for dropping back to the street class. i think a street truck with a single charger won your class. I am not crying about this. Just want the DHRA to move forward in a positive way. leaving no class feeling like they got screwed over. I appreciate the steps Eric has taken for all of the classes.

Craig, thanks. not trying to start any hating or anything of the sort. just was the only one with balls to say anything about i guess.

Again I apologize for starting this thread without having all of the info. i was going on what I was told at the 4:30pm driver's meeting at T i M. sorry for leading anyone on.

thanks, nick

Nick, thanks for your input. We are learning and we can only do that with our supporters, those that choose to pull with us. I do know from the other side of the fence (spectators) that they are there to watch all three classes, they just don't want to see too much of the street class, i. e. 4 hours like last year. Just like we had too many rookies this year, so next year that will change too. I don't know if we will ever get to a sponsored street purse, but look at it this way, 68 trucks @ $30 ea. and we'll shorten the payout to 5 places looks like this:

1st $1000 or 1st $800

2nd $500 2nd $500

3rd $300 3rd $300

4th $180 4th $240

5th $60 5th $200

Not bad?

(this is from Eric McBride on Diesel-Central.com)

true gene, it does take money to put on an event like muncie.

eric i like the figures in the right column. gives the top 5 trucks that don't break a shot at some very decent money. i am going to paste this over on the TDR and get a few more opinions from other pullers. but that would seem very fair to me. thanks again for all of your hard work, nick

Ok , I have heard this numerous times, even from my own tech guys.

It is incorrect.

The "75" number was put on each class, as a MAXIMUM number of trucks allowed. In case we were overwhelmed with trucks, we could enforce that rule, stop sign ups, so we wouldn't be pulling trucks at 4:00 am.

The purse was never based off that number.

What the purse was based off of, was 150 entries, all classes put together, with a $50 entry fee.

Where did 150 come from?

Last year, there were nearly 200 entries, as trucks were allowed to enter 2 of the 4 classes.

Only 147 made it to the hook.

Meaning, a mess of trucks broke before they could make their second hook.

This year, we refined the classes to 3, allowed only one class and still had 95 hooks in qualifying. I did expect more, but a few of trucks did not come because of rule changes, and many more were not completed.

Many, many trucks, Muncie was their first pull of the season.

Looking back, we maybe should have based the purse on 100, instead of150 before hand, but I like to be optimistic.

Anyway, the entry fees were taken and divided evenly among the three classes, with Street paying back 10 places, Pro, 5 and Mod 3.

I thought going back 10 in street would be more fair, because there were more trucks. But evidently most don't want that. (except for 6,7,8,9,10. )

Hey, we learned a lot, and will make changes, we never expected it to be perfect.

It was also the first pull I ever ran. I'd never even helped at a pull before.

I'll do better, Nick, just give me time to sew the seat up in these pants, as you have chewed the seat right out of them.

;)
