I think they used a 20 horse hitch to pull out a single log, oxen for pulling a cable to a log, a steam powered reciprocating saw, a tree so big they were only able to make the crosscut stroke about 6" at the largest diameter, team notch cutting off scaffolds and a bush logger making sleepers and his own bread in the preview below.
