Looking for travel trailer advice

Silly questions?

Anybody tried those rubber bumpers from timbren.com in place of air bags? They sound interesting and at half the price of an air bag system they are suppose to work better. I'm about ready to put the air bags on my 07 3500 drw for my 11 1/2' Artic Fox camper. I had them on my 93 1ton and they worked good except for blowing one out. It ended up rubbing against something and lost air. Anyway, I just read an article on them and I want to check them out first. So if anyone has any experience with them, please let me know.

I have them on the rear of my truck. I got them to use w/ my dump trailer and enclosed trailer, the back would really sag even with the trailer empty. My truck has a cap and alot of tools and supplies in the back.

I had to cut off an inch, I now have a 1/2" clearance. It rides normal without the trailer and great with them.

The heaviest I towed was 10,000 lbs and the timbrens helped alot.

I tried them a few years back to try to solve a sway problem with my camper on. They worked, but the ride was so harsh that I was afraid the camper would be damaged. I put the air bags back on.

My friend works at a camper dealer. He said if you run loaded or unloaded they are ok. If you run with a partial load, they suck! Unloaded you are off them. Loaded you are on, with full weight. Light loaded, you are just on them, and they just hold the truck, no give. Makes for a rough ride.

There is a thread about this, alot of info. Search Timbren, can't miss it! ;)

More of the same news

I had the timbren load boosters on my 98 REG cab THEY WILL kill your back but I needed them to make the truck handle the loads and make it look as if I was never overloaded. I had the small set first suposed to suport 1k and then found a set that was rated for medium duty use and put them on that held up the rear of the truck VERY well but bad ride.

I had them on my '03 2500 2wd towing a 11200 lb 5er with 2200 lbs pin weight. The Timbrens on my 2wd 2500 are only about 3 inches long and sure gave a harsh ride when loaded [chucking caused from very little suspension movement. My neighbor uses them on her '05 2500 4x4 which makes the Timbrens about 4 inches longer [7-8 inches] and the loaded ride is great with the same weight. Both rode good when empty.
