It started off as the common engine knock that was “fixed” by swapping the #5 & #6 injectors around. After I got it back I noticed a tick in the engine. I took it back and they proceeded to tear my engine apart looking for the problem. Well they found it, a broken piston skirt on #6. GREAT :( ! The service advisor advised me that they are ordering a new short block but they are on back order (of course :{ ). I only have 36,000 miles on it. What do you think caused this, and how long do you think its going to take to get it fixed?
 
I'm going to get rid of my dodge truck and go to the dark side (Ford). I'm going to get a F650 with a 5. 9 Cummins. I guess that wouldn't be exactly the dark side, just grey. 6 doors and I'll throw stacks on it. Should be great to pull the 5er.

Whats goin on here Boys? I count 2 blown motors on the 1st page here. Both under or at 36K. . no obvious abuse. . Ford boys dont have any on the first 5 pages :confused: Makin me rethink the whole 3rd gen thing
 
Man!! I read the other thread where everyone tells me that my knock is typical, then move down the page and read this! Makes me wonder. I guess I have my warranty if it comes to it, but man it eats at me knowing some people are having real problems. I'm hoping since mine's the newer motor that I don't/ won't have this problem.



That's a real bummer, kinda seems hard to believe the blocks are on back order, seems like they could steal one from somewhere, unless they're waiting for a core to reman, like the stereo's when they die. Good luck



Despite it all I'd still rather have a Dodge Cummins over anything else!
