I couldn't keep carrier bearings in my truck and it appears the factory coating they put on the two piece drive shaft had worn off according to Inland Truck Parts. I have air bags that really cause the drive shaft to become more extended than your average truck. I think all the extra movement just wore it out after 186K.

I went through about six or so carrier bearings in the last two years so I'm hoping this solves that problem. My carrier bearings would keep ending up pushed out of the carrier. This has been a frustrating problem that has wasted $1000 of my money. I finally took my truck to a drive shaft shop (ITP) and they figured out the problem. Three new universal joints and a two piece drive shaft= $600.

interesting I have 160k with bags and last 30k with a 6'lift besides all of my u-joints and both yokes I have never had a problem with my carrier. I wouldnt think bags would do this. well hope its completely fixed for good now.

No hopping but I did have a broken off shock mount and a blown out shock seal in the back that was making my truck spongy in the back end. This also may have caused excess movement of the drive shafts.
