time for a new turbo????

this thing still isnt running right. Ive had my rail press checked, its in specs, no boost leaks on boots or intercooler, but IT STILL WONT KEEP PRESSURE! it will build 20lbs and drop to nothing and smoke like its on fire. i was told to wire my wastegate shut and i did but it didnt change. is the wastegate frozen open, do i need to buy another turbo, or am i even looking in the right spot. i also changed the map sensor

does the wastegate move at all? pop a hose off the actuator if you can and put some compressed air [regulated] and see if it opens. factory setting should be around 24psi fully open

To add to this, you can pull off the elbow between the turbo and the downpipe and see if the wastegate door is maybe being held open for some reason, like soot buildup.



Even with that, I would say with your mods you should still see more than 20psi even with the Wastegate open. The gate isn't very large and you have a small exhaust housing.



Process of elimination. Pull your mods one by one and see if the problem persists.
