Looking for recommendations on places to go mid November, camping w/ a fifthwheel.

Want some snow. Electric Hookups would be nice.

Coming from Orange County, CA

Have wife, three kids and a dog. Not too many campgrounds open in winter at snow elevations. I chain up all 4 truck tires and one set on the trailer.

Possibility #1: Mammoth Lakes RV resort, electric hookups in winter

Possibility #2: Grand Canyon AZ, south rim Mather Campground. We could do the Polar Express train out of Williams for the kids but I heard it's cheesy. Lots of RV resorts near Williams.

I saw Lodgepole campground in Sequoia Nat Park is open in winter. Anyone stay there before, especially in winter?

thanks

Tom

If you can live without electricity, Barton Flats campground is open all year. It's on hwy 38(back way to Big Bear lake) about half way up the hill. There are water spouts throughout the campground and showers/flushers, although I don't know if those work in the winter.

Derek at Snow Performance here.

We had 0 snow on the ground when I went home yesterday. It has been coming down all night and day since though. Nothing heavy, but its gorgeous in Colorado this time of year. Thing is, you will be concentrating on the raod so hard over Wolf Creek Pass that you probably wont notice LOL. Last time I went over that beast it was Chrsitmas Eve with a nice blast of windblown snow.

... and you were all expecting some clever pun about Snow and snow ;)

He said that he wants to stay 7 to 8 hours from Orange County, CA.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Sam- We have been planning on going to the BLM area E of Jenks lake w/ some family but we will do that another time. I think that is near Barton Flats. Maybe springtime and I (by I, I mean I will bait hooks for my kids) will fish the creek for trout.

Looks like I missed the fishing season by about 3 weeks in Mammoth.

Nanook, We spent a week there (Anchorage area +- 200 miles) a couple years ago. My kids are still talking about it. I would dearly like 2-3 months to do a driving trip to Alaska. I could spend my summers in your state. It is absolutely breathtaking.
