Ok it's time for power. First i would like to add guages. 1st gauge easy(EGT). 2nd Boost but how high?30 enough or should I go 60. 3rd Trans temp. 4th do i need a fuel pressure gauge or will it be useful only for trouble shooting?

Then I would like to put a plate in but not sure which one to put in. I pull a 4000lbs trailer in the mountain on vacation and not happy with the power. Hopeing to get a bigger trailer so i know I need more power for sure. I thought a 6 plate or maybe an 8 plate. i don't want to blow my trans so i don't know if this might be too much. I see alot of you useing #11 or #10. Why not go with#6 or #8 and have the extra power if needed. maybe my thinking is all wrong. Thanks for anyeducation you can give me.

1996 2 wd extended cab. 3. 54 automatic stock for now.

1st - you answered yourself

2nd- if you plan on adding a plate get a 60 (30 & 60 in my Ultra Lite series cost the same amount)

3rd- a definate if you have an auto and tow or just have an auto period.

I'm not sure about the auto transmission plates (which are lower #'s, manual transmission plates are higher i. e. 12, 11, 10) but someone will chime in with the correct plate for a stock transmission. To much power and you'll be spending BIG $$ fixing it. Also whenever you add a plate you might want to look at a air induction upgrade since you tow in mountainous regions.

Usually you want to go in this order when BOMBing

Gauges

transmission

plate

air / exhaust

turbo housing

However that's my personal opinion and as close to a certain list that a lot of people circulate around here.

Have any more questions just ask.

I have a 96 auto and you will need the gauges listed before. Yes an 11 plate will give you about 40 more hp but even that will probably toast your lock up torque converter when you tow. I started with an 11 plate from TST and after losing 2 TC's I got a good TC from DTT and have not had any problems for almost 3 years even though I went to a #5 plate ( 120 Hp with the upgraded 215 injectors) and tow 13,000lb 5th wheel.

60 lb boost by all means. The fuel pressure gauge is for problem solving but well worth it as there are a bunch of performance problems that can be caused by low fuel pressure and lots of other things too and its nice to be able to eliminate fuel pressure right away and go one to the others which are mostly not to bad to fix. Cant help you on auto plates but with my #11 along with a few other goodies it will pull my trailer as fast as I want to go up anything I would want to go fast on and I dont need full throttle to do it but do have to keep an eye on the EGTs a little when doing that. My TT weighs 6500lbs.
