Hi everyone, I have been flowing this site for a while, but I finally did it. This is the best site I have found. I bought my dodge last March, 2000- 3500 dually reg cab, 4x4, 5sp,4:10 LSR. it had 100K on it. It was used to pull a 32' stock trailer, full time. Since I have put over 7K on it I wonder if I should adjust vavles? Were can I get the spec for this operation? I have a tractor mechanic that will do it if I get the info.

Some one will jump in and give you a site for the info. Basicly, the intakes should be at . 010 and exhaust at . 020.

And yes they should be checked/set. It isn't going to hurt anything but the time. That is about a 30-45 minute guess.

Thanks for the link, Do I need a barring tool & what is it used for?

I will try to learn more with a search.

"A socket on the alternator work just as good

It can. If it won't turn the engine one way and the belt slips try it the other way.

I think the valve cover gasket is rubber and most likely will not need to be replaced. I could be full of it and I hope someone will correct me if I am wrong.

The gasket is reusable in most cases, mine had 95,000 miles and resealed fine. I needed a mirror to see the timing marks. I also discovered it is easier to turn the engine if you putt the trans in neutral, or at least release the parking brake

The timimng marks are on a gear behind the breather connection, you have to remove the hose from the breather bottle and then unscrew the breather from the front of the timing case and use a mirror to see the marks that are on the gear that you've just exposed.
