Texas License Plate

Air ride-anyone in Denver area?

Just was on a little trip, Ohio was first and last leg of the journey. Youngstown, Akron, Columbus, Cincinnati. Then back out I70, up I77.

Truck speed limit, 55, everyone else, 65.

This is the most unsafe, inefficient, traffic congesting asssinineist bs I have ever seen. The people who live there need to string up the politicians who implemented those speed limits.

Traffic needs to run at the same speed to be efficient, that is obvious to the most casual observer.

I don't much like the "pike" in O HI O

Sleddy casual?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I agree all Interstate speed limits should be 75 mph for all

Craig

I feel your pain Sleddy. I go to New Richmond, OH "several" times a year and there for about 3 months last year was going every weekend. The drivers on 71/75N & 275E are down right horrible!

Yep that sucks. Specially when two trucks going 55ish try and pass each other. I will be driving that rte Monday on my way to Indy.

How about trying to get through Illinois? Skyway... eh, Craig?

You have to stop about every 300 yards and throw change out the window. Makes the Garden State Parkway look like a dream... .

Matt

Well... ... ... ... it makes for some interesting driving... ... ... .

Makes me feel I'm getting somewhere when passing all those trucks :D

Greenleaf

Yep, I lived in Ohio for 22 years. It's really fun (NOT!) towing a 5th wheel down I-71 with that blasted 55 MPH speed limit and a patrol car in the median every mile! :(

Rusty

Ohio is hated by most all truck drivers.

I'd like to move my operations to Indiana and get out of here.

Say it with me...

"Ohio Sucks"

now, pass me a beer!

Agreed, 99. 9% of all my semi truck speeding tickets were in Ohio. The bad part is, it's hard not to go through Ohio when leaving from Michigan and heading east. One of the companies I drove for would let us use Canada as a land bridge, and skip Ohio altogether, which was very nice, 3-1/2 hours to Buffalo from Detoliet, and no tickets.

Michigan also has the 55/65 mph BS, but they rarely pull you over for driving 65ish in a big truck.

Rob

i found out real quick that in texas when the sun goes down, so does the speed limit. from 70mph to 65mph, the trooper was real nice though, even though i am from hated CA. oh yeah ohio does suck. drove through there as a kid. pretty much everthing east of the rockies sucks too, except texas. that ought to stir the pot. :D

all i have to say is... . *wahh*

so drive 5-10-40(heh) over, and ride with the CB on listening for locations of cops i drive 70-75 most of the time..... and most of which is just on a 55mph rd

its not the end of the world

Ohio drivers are pretty stinky. Not as bad as Mass. , but pretty bad. The I-75 "corridor" as they call it between Dayton and Cincinnati has a minimum requirement for 5 accidents per day. And that's a good day.

A co-worker's wife was recently T-boned because she was running late and consciously chose NOT to stop for a stop sign. She's been in front of the judge so many times for things like this that last time he told her if he ever saw her again she'd lose her license.

Thats what we do, but it would be nice to be able to turn that noise box off every once in a while and relax a little bit.

No kiddin Gene, nothin like a 4-wheeler driving 10-15mph over the limit, read: 80mph, (not that I care that they are speeding mind you) and a semi going 55mph, ya, thats safe.

Rob

Texas used to be 70 day/65 night for cars and 60 day/55 night for trucks, but they finally came to their senses a few years ago. Now it's 70/65 for everyone unless posted otherwise - with the exception of West Texas where the daytime limit on the Interstates is 75 - makes me wish for a 7th gear when I'm pulling the 5th wheel out there with 4. 10 gears. ! :)

Rusty

While looking for something else I happened upon this study.

Apparently, there's no safety issues with the 55/65 speed limits for trucks/cars.

Interestingly, the 55 is for vehicles with >4 tons empty weight. There are 2 SUVs I know of (Excursion and Navigator) that weigh over 4 tons empty. I wonder if a cop catches an Excursion speeding if they are smart enough to recognize the vehicle's speed limit is 55 rather than 65!
