Competition Time to go sled pullin'!

Just like the title says, it's time to go pullin'. Oo. Got all my drivetrain parts in and will be installing this weekend. Just need to measure up for the new rear driveline with 1480 series u-joints once everything is in and I'll be ready to go out and face the competition next season. There will probably be more things added to the rig in order to make the entire season without any down time carnage(we'll see how long the rear axle shafts will last ). But just wanted to share the pics with you guys and let you know you'll be seein' a large red dually in the mix of Western puller this coming season.

where did you pick up the yokes at and how much?

BILLVO, I could careless about that carpet, it's in the garage and it was left over from removing the living room carpet for hardwood floors.

wildmanben, I got the pinion yoke from Randy's Ring and Pinion. It was kind of expensive($170 ) and the only one I could find. I had to get the 1480 companion flange from another place that I can't remember the name right now, but it was in Washington state and Randy's Ring and Pinion had refered me to them since they didn't have that piece. I think it ran me about $80, but not sure on that.

I hear ya Scott, just want to get eveything set up for the power then I can add to my 500hp and maybe have a fat enough wallet one day to get my engine rebuilt like yours was. You really think those fast coolers are necessary? I was debating adding them but I have never really had any heat issues with this trans. Will have to monitor that once the rig gets back on the road. I think I am gonna take a chance and see how long the axle shafts last in my 80. Didn't the Dana 80s come with 37 spline shafts??

Joe, the stockers are 35 spline but they will hold up pretty good, the fast coolers just an extra capacity thing not nessacarry but can't hurt for the cost compared to the transmission itself. Some little irish guy named Mahoney in the PA area started that trend I believe :-laf

Thanks Scott, I suppose my 35 spline stockers should hold up to my current power level but once I start putting more to the ground with those 4 37" tires back there, I can just see one of those snapping. Haisley's 37 spline shafts are on the list with a Detroit locker and maybe some 4. 10s but we'll see how well the 3. 54s hold up. They might be nice to achieve some good wheel speed and momentum down the track.

They are 2" spacers from Arrowcraft conversions. Not sure if they make anything wider due to safety reasons but I have seen some others that go to almost 4" in width.

How bad do they rub in the middle? I've got 2" spacer and my 35 12. 50 rub together and I know the 37's are wider. I'm getting ready to go to 37's and thats the reason for the question.

No rubbing what-so-ever. Weird how you would be getting some rubbing with that spacer, my tires are close but they don't touch.
