The POD's are in and WOW!!

Now, about those EGT's... ... ... ...

I am ordering a pump wrench from Piers to set the timing and that order will also include a new Turbo.

Al says I could go with the HX-35 OR the 40.

So here are the questions;

Who is running PDR Turbos?

Which one?

How is the 40 on the bottom end?

What do you use your truck for?

Your likes and dislikes about the Turbo you are running.

I use my rig primarily for towing and it sees some pretty good hills.

I've got the PDR HX35 :cool: :D Just installed it a couple of days ago. I haven't towed with it yet, so I don't have any info there. It is a great improvement over the stock turbo. Spoolup is faster. It is more responsive throughout the rpm range. Max boost is up 4psi. Boost at part-throttle is up about 2psi overall. Cruise EGT is down 50 deg (600 deg, 2100 rpm, 80 mph). I don't have a max EGT reading yet. It's MUCH louder than the stock turbo (but I have an open air filter and the silencer ring is removed) Cooldown is a bit faster. Smoke is reduced.

I see that you're thinking of transmission mods. If you change to a tighter convertor and a big turbo, you're going to get lots of lag on bottom end. Also, the HX40 requires a 4" exhaust from the turbo back. The HX35 is a direct replacement, nothing needs to be changed.

Hey, Been having some computer problems of late but I answered your PM on the DTR.

As I have run the 35 and 40 I'll post my findings here so everyone can see. The PDR 40 is alittle slower on bottom end than the PDR HX35. Middle range I would have too give it to the 40 and top end the 40 is a clear winner. As far as temps go the 40 runs about the same at low boost, 70 deg cooler at mid boost and close to 100 deg at high boost. I haven't done any towing with the 40 but did alot with the 35 and loved it.

The 40 is even louder then the 35. It starts to whine right away. You got to love that sound. :D

Conclusion!!

If you want a mildly bombed truck stick with a 35 and if you want to go big, get the 40. ;)
