What kind of T- bar Puller did you use to remove the VE injection pump? I have a leak on the back side of the pump, I think. I can’t see exactly were it is. I purchased a rebuilt pump from Diesel Care & Performance. www.dieselcare.net. It has no timing line on the pump, it is locked down and I hope it’s on number one. I read the owners manual on how to install it but do you have any suggestions before I take the old one out?

I have a 1992 W250 4X4 Ext-cab with 5 speed , HX 35 with 14 wastegated housing, Stan’s SS 4” exhaust, US Gear Exhaust Brake, pyro and boost gauges on a pillar. I have pods to install at the same time as the injection pump. Need a little help and also need a little more power to pull toy hauler for gold mining.

The timing gear puller from Autozone worsk just fine, though you have to buy your own bolts. I think mine are M8x1. 5, but I could be wrong on that.

If you want more power, read the sticky on 1st gen performance. It normally gets locked at #1 cylinder. Just make sure to put the new pump about where the old pump was, maybe a little higher, and see how you like it. If you have the stuff, find TRUE TDC, and set the timing to about 1. 5-1. 6mm

I recommend the Snap-On/Blue Point SP 504 puller. It works for all the Dodge/Cummins injection pumps. The VE pumps and the VP-44 pumps use a woodruff key and keyway cut in the pump shaft for timing and alignment. The VE pumps have an indented line (like a chisel notch) at the outer (the one that is easy to see) mounting stud/nut on the pump housing and on the gear case to indicate the factory timing setting.
