Looks like I have a small but persistent fuel leak on the back side of the pump from somewhere around the timing indicator plug. On the back side of the VE44 in between the 6 output hard lines is a big fitting with a smaller plug in the middle of it. Somewhere around this fitting is a leak. It is not coming from the injector lines - it's something to do with that fitting.

I pulled the small plug and replaced the brass washer - no joy. Has anyone removed the big fitting itself and/or know what seals it to the IP? O-ring, brass washer? Any small parts going to come flying out if I pull that big fitting out to r/r whatever seal is in there? The FSM is not very specific on that dude. Anything else I should look at before I tear into the back of the pump?

Many thanks

My pump was leaking from there too, Mad Max.

It is a tri fitting,,, if you don't have the special tool, one of the large "gator grip" sockets will get it off.

It is an O Ring there, and you can pull that fitting without parts flying out, with the pump on the truck, I resealed all the main parts of the pump and then found out I still had leaks and ended up having to replace this one as well... it solved my problem!

I had teh whole reseal kit from Bosch so ... I had the seal in hand. .
