On the first gen trucks you could tell if the timing was advanced (from stock) by the space between the afc and the intake manifold, narrow gap advanced and larger gap retarded. Is it the same way with the P7100? I know on my truck that I had to file my head to get the overflow valve out, timing is supposed to be 15. 5 degrees. I'm just curious.

I talked to a diesel shop and they told me just that. The gear is pulled away from the pump. They also told me you can look through the inspection hole where they lock the pump up for removal and with the timing pin in, no 1 at tdc, advanced timing has the tab towards the bottom and retarded2 to the top. If I remember correctly.
