1993 W250 5 speed. Stock everything until today. I just put a 3600 rpm governor spring and Denny's Stage 1 fuel pin in. Previous owner had done some stuff to the Injection Pump (based on some torque stripes and damage on some of the screws) so I'm trying to bring it back to stock or at least establish a baseline. I plan on putting gauges in very soon but have not yet. The smoke screw was turned out about 1/8 inch out past the lip of the AFC cover. I set it back to flush. I had trouble moving the starwheel either direction and I didn't want to jack it up so I left it as is. When I got everything back together, I've got a light smoke haze and the exhaust smells very rich - fuel wise, not sweet like coolant or burning oil. When I took it for a test drive, I was getting white smoke on acceleration but I think it's just about leveled out and doesn't anymore. I get black smoke if I floor it. I also added stiction eliminator to the oil so I'm not sure if it's just working the injectors over and cleaning them out a bit. A month ago, I replaced the tappet seal and had the injection pump off and it's ran rich since then. I lined the timing lines back up when I reinstalled it. I didn't mess with maximum fuel screw... the previous owner jacked up the threads so I can't turn it "up" at all. Any ideas on how to decrease the haze? And why I would be getting white smoke? Thanks for the help.
