Halla HS18 AC Compressor

My 07.5 with the 6.7 had a tipm failure at 320000 miles don't know the exact details but it was sent off to be remanned and came back unfixiable with a refund am I out of a good truck because of this any other suggestions thanks

A quick google search turned up some results, seems like they are available..here is a few examples I came across

Cheaper;

https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog...2,electrical,power+supply+module+(tipm),13581

Probably the best option if you plan on keeping the truck;

Please make sure you check comparability of the links I posted with your specific vehicle.

we sent ours off to be repaired and it came back unrepairable with a refund I understand that they are vin specific but surely someone's found a way around that otherwise I would have find my trucks exact twin to find the same tipm is that what I'm hearing?

I used a Dorman TIPM in my '07. I haven't check in a while if they are available. But, it was plug and play.

I saw those were available for 07 models there were some changes with the 07.5 mainly filters if I remember correctly but the 05 part always has to be included when ordering parts so I wonder if that makes a difference here am I closer to an 08 or 07 or is the 07.5 the problem

I'm not certain what difference there was between the '07 5.9 TIPM and the '07.5 6.7L. However, if that Dorman part happens to be available for yours, go for it.

I will look to see if I still have the install instructions. But, if I remember correctly, there is just a simple self learn procedure. Could not have been simpler.

Don't they usually go with the VIN for such a specific part?
It seems odd to work with just the year as sometimes changes are mid year or even trim level specific.

Thanks I'm just wondering if I'm missing something if was that simple why has it been in the shop for a month with a trusted and experienced Cummins tech that I've worked with for twenty years

you'd think so the vin should supply everything a tech would need to know the manufacture date and specifics of the vehicle the age of the vehicle and unavailability of parts kind of speaks to planned obsolescence to me kind of defeats the purpose of owning a Cummins

Yes, the VIN gives him access to the build sheet and there he finds everything he needs.
That's how it works today, for parts and everything else around the vehicle, it all goes with the VIN and only with the VIN.

And by the way, you are the one that asked for help and advice, don't blame me for try to help.

Looks to me it doesn’t matter if it’s a 5.9 or 6.7, just need to know if it’s RWD or 4X4.

okay I've used Dorman before it says plug and play no programming necessary which is what I've heard is the biggest problem kind of like the built in exhaust brake having to be programmed if this works it will be a blessing to me and our company

Send Dorman an email. They can explain it much better than all of us guessing! They wouldn't offer it if it wouldn't work.:rolleyes:

thank y'all for your help I've offered the company the Dorman replacement and another that was offered by our mechanic I'll let you guys know the outcome
