TIPM qusetions any tech's chime in please

my tipm is probbaly shot.

i have # 13,14,15 fuses with no power on the fuses.

i also through an abs light and parking brake light light (although the switch appears to function and it flashes when it engaged. ) both light came in my driveway.



additionally hot power coming out of trailer plug is dead, all else works.



if i get a used one, does it have to programed? Vin locked? (the TIPM is the entire unit, encompassing all of the fuses... ?? )

Have you had it reset yet? If not then thats the cheapest route. There's a S/W upgrade that you may not have yet that increases the current rating to 20 amps.

Have the dealer reset it first. The VIN and vehicle configuration is in it, so at the very least the new (used) one needs to be re-configured by the dealer. It will never loose the original VIN, so it will always have a VIN mismatch fault that cannot be cleared.

if i get a used one, the exact yr and exact trim and acceries in the fuse box----

do i still have to get it "programed" ? or would that make it plug and play unit?



(if it has to be programed no matter what, how long/time to do that? just tying not to get riped off, like they always try to do to me!)
