Is there some fasteners that hold the area around the dash to the dash? Hidden fasteners? I'd like to change the radio to a better one, but I don't see how it's fastened in there. The vehicle I got the newer (and better) stereo from just had it sitting in there, you just used your fingernails to pull it out. The stock one is solid in there, and that installation (or similar) is what I'd like in my 1994 2500 Ram. It does seem like the area is bigger though, maybe I can buy a bigger face plate or make one out of aluminum or something. I'd also like to put a burglar alarm in and behind the dash is where the installer put the alarm in my 2005 Ram 2500. I'd like to get in that area too (2005) to salvage that alarm since I wrecked the 2005.
Any help is appreciated!

You'll need to remove the cup holder, pull it out, up a little, then all the way out and remove the screws. Then, remove the ashtray the same way then remove the screws. After that the dash bezel just pulls off. The radio is held in by two bolts.

The dash bezel just pulls off first without removing anything else. Then the radio can easily be removed. You can buy a filler that lets you mount a standard size stereo. Chris

Yes, I'm wanting to put a single DIN CD player, radio in the stock 1994 dash. It looks bigger than the stereo. It's the stock cassette player and radio that came in it. I also want to remove a burglar alarm that's behind the dash of my wrecked 2005 Dodge Ram 2500. The installer got behind the dash of the 2005 somehow, but I don't know how he did it, although now I know how to replace the stock 1994 radio.

Crutchfield. Com. All of their stereos come with full installation instructions and adaptors. Not sure if they have PDF on their site.

My instructions were correct for the '94. I have no experience with a 3rd Gen. The bezel on my '98 just pulls off as SNOKING said.

You can buy an installation kit at any stereo shop to make the single DIN work in the '94. They will also have a wiring harness that will either go directly between your new unit and the factory wiring or you may need to follow some simple directions to make one from a kit. It's very simple.
