I have been able to get some tread wear warranty from toyo on my 275/70 18 at2 tires. I really like them except they seemed to wear out a little fast. My question is , would increasing size to 285/75 18 cause any issues? I don't want to modify in any way the truck works unreal. Just want a little larger for appearance .can the speedo be reprogrammed , it's only 5%

295-70-18's look even nicer. The new tire size diameter is larger you'll have to have the pinion of set changed in order to get you'r speedometer to read correctly. You'r friendly dealer can make the change for you.

Are 285 & 290 width tires OK on 8 inch rims? Does it cause stress on the sidewalls? Or does it deform the tires any?

I think so. My tradesman has rims upgraded to 8 inch. But don't the Laramies only come with 275 width? Or am i mistaken?

We've been running 315-70-17's on the 05 and my friend's 04 for years very slight rubbing issue only when wheel is hard over. Side wall stress? none that we ever saw. I saw a 4 gen truck with the 295's on it they really looked sharp.

I have 285/75/18 Toyos, love them. I did a 2" level but did not need to. Go for it.

I ran 285/65/18 on my last truck pretty ideal size for a stock truck.

If I may ask, what kind of mileage did yo get out of the AT2's . considering those or the Cooper AT3's . Been told a couple times that the Coopers will give you a little better mileage then the Toyo's . Heard good things about both. I have run the Goodrich Ta's , they are also a nice tire.

Hey there
New around here. I recently bought Toyo CTs (commercial tire). They seem to doing well with around 20k kms. Might be worth a look

Around here the tire places have a book that states the tires it came with.
If you have stock rims, they will not deviate from the size in the book. (ask me how I know)
Guess they're afraid of being sued.

cannot tell you what taller tires will fit for sure without rubbing, but I have gone thru 4 sets of Firestone AT's , friends son worked at a dealer ship that sold them and got them for me dirt cheap, I never got more than 22,000 miles out of a set of them
I personally would NOT recommend them at all, if your paying retail price on them, I was getting a set for about 600 bucks, installed and balanced!
so, I didn;'t cry on the crappy mileage so much!
but when my friend's son quit, I also quit buying them
all were tire size 285-75-17 load e's

my '16 has the Firestone transforce HT's 275/70/18 from factory and have about 16,000 miles on them and there below 50% tread, so NOT impressed with them either

will be going to Coopers or michelin's

That's why I use the independent tire guy. Not the big chains

Firestone Transforce HT are not a very good tire IMO. Got 23K on them will be happy to see 30K. Coopers or Toyos are next .

I always use the small guy, and usually get as good or better deal on tires.

I agree. And they are more apt to give you what you want. Mine came with 8" x 17" rims. But i will soon give those away because i bought some 8"× 18 " rims on ebay, so there's no way they could give me the stock tire. But they may only replace them with 275 width and not 285+ width because that's the max width Ram goes with stock. But the little guy will likely give me what i ask for even if wider than 275.

That tire is on my radar for replacing my junk Firestones. I'll be interested to see your feedback. I don't need the snowflake rating, but it appears to be the best option to get the 3 ply sidewall without going to a mud terrain.

The truck will be off the road for the winter so I will keep you posted. As far as the snowflake goes I dragged my 38 ft toy hauler through a few mud holes this summer and the tires didn't skip a beat. Although I got some nice BC pinstriping for my efforts. I was told I could expect 50 thousand miles out of them. Time will tell

Do you need a 19.5 rim to fit Toyo CT's?
