what is a good AT tire for wear and what size do you recommend (big as possible without messing with mpg too much). I also plan a 2. 5'' leveling kit to go along with new tires. Truck is a 04. 5 4wd short bed 3. 73 rear end auto. Any info would be help full thank you.

I run BFGoodrich 315's on my truck, 11,500 miles and they are wearing great. These tires are about 35"'s tall and ride real smooth. I put them on straight out of the gate so I don't know what the mileage was before hand.

I don't have a lift or leveling kit on my truck, and I do get some rubbing at full lock, I didn't get this rubbing at first so I think the springs have settled some.

I have the BFG 315 A/Ts also, they are actually closer to 34. 5" diameter. I do have a 2" leveling kit on the front. I have no problems with rubbing at any time.

I lost about 1mpg city driving with the 315s. I dont think the highway mileage dropped any at all, stayed about the same.

The 3. 73 and auto combination is what I have and I am happy with the power, ride and handling.

I have about 11000 miles on my BFGs and the wear is minimal. I expect to get 50-55k out of them. I have ran the BFG A/Ts on many 4x4 trucks for the past 20+ years and I like the overall performance. Everything is a comprimise to some degree. They handle good on the road and are quiet compared to some. They are great in snow/ice, good in sand and water and a little weak in sloppy mud. When you get in the mud you have the power of the Cummins to get you out.

Same here with the 315 70 17 BFG's. I have them on for 5000 miles now. Mileage has not changed-I had 10000 on truck before adding 10" wheels and tires. Tires rub slightly on full lock turns. They ride better than stock tires did and handle dirt/sand much better than stock. At 10000 the stock michelins were 1/2 wore in the rear. It looks like these will last alot longer. Oh if you are into ebay look for Hummer2 takeoffs. You can usually get wheels and tires for less than new tires if you can find them close by so there would be no shipping.
