Archived Tire and Wheel size

Help!!! If someone could give me a little help with tire and wheel sizing... i would really appreciate it!



Was planning on leaving for long distance trip tomorrow am and just ahd new wheels and tires put on truck this morning... upgraded to 285/75/16 BFG's on American Racing alloy rims... 16 x 8's...



Suddenly have developed a horrible rub when wheels turn and scraping the inside fender lining badly...



The dealer indicated that these would fit with no problem... not the case.



My Ram is a 2500, 2 wheel drive... carrying Lance slideout camper towing a ski boat...



Was really looking forward to the start of vacation, but...



Anyone with any guidance on what to do, what tire size, etc... I would really like to hear from you... by the way, the tire shop is closed tomorrow... of course.

Sounds like you have two options.



The first option would be go on vacation and don't turn the wheel far enough to make them rub and deal with the knuckle head tire dealer when you get back. I assume you are two wheel drive - you may have the incorrect offset on the wheels too.



The second one (probably the safest one) delay vacation and be waiting at the tire dealer before they open the door with your receipts in hand - they will know when they see you that something is wrong. Since no one want's to start their Monday off on a bad foot (be they working or in your case delaying one day of vacation to correct something that should not have happened in the first place ) try the nice way first and tell them something is wrong as the tires rub when you turn the wheel show them. Give them the oportunity to fix it. If they give you any trouble tell them to put you old wheels and tires back on, then go somewhere else. Remember you are the customer and they jepordized you and your family's safety. I'm sure they still have your old tires as most tire places let them stack up and have them removed monthly depending on volume. Don't let them tell you they can't take the old tires and wheels. If they refuse, ask them for a phone book and the use of their phone. Go to the blue pages and find the number for the dept of transportation - give them one more chance then place the call. I'm sure you won't have to go to these extremes - but they did let you roll out of their shop in an unsafe manner uninformed. With this in mind you really should consider another tire shop. IMHO.
