Can someone give me the equation to figure out what the final drive ratio would be after changing from a 235/85 /16 to a 255/85/16 with the present 4:10 gears I have. I`m guessing hopefully around 3:70`s + -. thanx

Effective gear ratio = 4. 10 x (current tire loaded rolling radius / new tire loaded rolling radius)

The loaded rolling radius is often available on tire manufacturer tables. If not available, substitute tire diameter in both cases, but it won't be as accurate.

I can't tell you exactly but you could try playing with my gear ratio calculator that is in my signature for some information to figure things out

I roughly get 3. 93 as a ratio of Diameters (I figure it as if the pinion rotates 4. 1 times then your 235 travels 99. 68in, but your 255 will travel 103. 89 so if you work it backwards then your pinion would only have to rotate 3. 93 times to travel the same distance with the 255 ) ?
