I got a 03 2500 4wd six-speed. . i need new tires. . i dont like the factory bfg's. . Im wanting a extra heavy load tire i pull really heavy loads. . when truck is being used its got a trailer behind it! I want a good all weather all year around tire but dont want a loud road noise tire! Im looking at the firestone destination a/t and also the bridgestone dueler a/t revo 2. . If i new how to post the pictures i would but im sorry i dont. . thats what kind of tires im looking at... any help would be great!!thanks robert

I had a pair of orignal revo's on a past truck. I loved them. I am planning on putting the revo 2's on when I need tires again.

We recently returned from a tt (27') road trip from nor cal to louisiana and back on our pirelli scorpions that have been on for a year and a half.

They handled great even in strong (40mph+ gusts) cross-wind and the noise level is less than the bfg's I replaced.

When these wear out I'm getting another set.

We have found that the Firestone Transforce A/T (Load range "E") works very well for OUR needs. We run them on heavy service trucks (loaded near the max GVW) and are off road daily on new construction job sites. The tires are aggressive enough for our use, without being loud on the road. They have very good road manners, good in the wet and snow (we had a little snow this year in Atlanta, GA) We have always gotten at least 50k out of a set of tires. All of the trucks in my signature have them except the 95 4x4 which has Michelins LTX AT2. We went with the Transforce with the "deeper" tread and the more aggressive tread pattern, instead of the Destinations. They are priced right and just plain work for us.

I will look at the transformers. . from you description of use of the work truck that is a similiar use of my truck. I will take a hard look at them. anybody else have any input?thanks alot for you guys that have already!thank you very much robert

I also agree with the Transforce. Put a set on my dually about 4k ago and love them. 960 out the door vs. over 1400 for the Michelins MS was not a hard choice for me. I could have afforded the Michelin but it didn't make sense. I think the Michelin man needs to go on a diet.

I'm a Toyo fan. The stock size along w/285-70-17 or 285-75-17 AT's are nearly silent and have a 3800# load capacity. E rated. Next to no lead to balance either.

Just put a set of Hankook 285's dynapro atm rf10 on mine. I plow and this winter was a mess, never got stuck with them and I was plowing 3 ft drifts. I had BFG's and everytime I put the plow on the steering would drag. With the Hankooks it does not plus they are load range E, I don't get road noise either. First run that sold me on them was a trip to the farm, got in about midnight and didn't see that the driveway was soft. It had rained 4 inches that day, the new driveway hadn't setup yet all the stone on top made it look great. Drove up into it and sunk, up over the rim I kept the throttle steady and in first gear went right up the 6% grade no problem. The next morning I went to see how much damage was done and the ruts in the driveway told the story, 8-10 inches deep. That right there sold me on them, had they been my BGF's I'd still be there.

I have a set of firestone transforce that has 40. 000 + miles and I will make a run to AZ & CA in November and back home in April before I thank about new tires! Most of my miles are loaded 23. 000lb and most interstate roads 62 to 75MPH have never had a flat and the tires has never ben rotate they put what look like white sand in the tires when they put them on the truck. I also run them on my fifth wheel. they have 32. 000 miles on them and have not had any trouble with them also put the white looking sand in them. This is what they use to balance the tires. I will not have lead weights on my truck or trailer. === Good Luck

On my second set of Toyo AT's. Love em. Run smooth and quiet. 285's look great on the truck and they do awsome in the ice and snow. Got 48K out of the first set. Could of run a little more but had new ones put on before this last winter set in.

Transforce, Transforce, Transforce

I run a Commercial and Industrial Electrical contracting company. We run Chevy's and Dodges. All of our fleet trucks have Firestone Transforce At's. I love these tires. All of are trucks are overloaded, pull enclosed trailers, bobcats, backhoe, you name it. We drive cross country. We are base out of Michigan and have sent trucks to California, Ohio, Florida, Texas all this year. I have tried the toyo's, coopers, goodyears, you name it. Nothing gets the job done like the Transforce. They out last 99% of all tires we have tried, and cost less. My truck has goodyears on it. We had goodyear hounding us to try these tires and I was reluctant but put them on my truck. I will never do that again. The first set the installed they replaced under warranty. The two back tires in 12,000 miles were out of round and 75% gone. The fronts were 50% gone. The second set I have now has 20,000 miles on them, they are almost 60% gone. I will have Transforces after this for sure. We run our trucks 35-50 thousand a year. I have Transforces that have 70,000 on them and still have 30% left. Just my . 02 cents. We burn up trucks and tires. Firestone Transforce AT's last longer, and cost less and that helps the bottom line.

Well thanks for all the advice guys. . i will have to prcie them out!!whats the deal with the white sand?never heard about this before. . thanks again

Question...

Ive had the Transforce AT's on my dually now for over 42K, are the side walls on any of your showing signs of any cracking?. Mine are:rolleyes:. I can tell if it were not for the cracking (Very Slight) I would probably get at least 65K out of these gems.

On our trucks, we see 50k with no sidewalls cracks, but we are reaching that mileage in about 2 years. We could get more mileage, but replace them every other year in late Oct or early Nov (just before our wettest time of the year). The tires still have good useable tread left, but with our use, it is better for us to change them.

I don't notice any cracking. The oldest set I have is only 2 years or so old. We do run them at max (80psi) do you? I guess it all depends how bad the side wall looks and how much weight you carry. You might be fine to just run them. I have never had a set fail me. I have overloaded them a time or 10:-laf

FWIW, I run Toyo M-55 (267/75/16). Truck with a full tank sits at 8,000lbs. I was able to get 45,000 miles out of my last set. Not much, however my previous stock Michelins, Firestone Steeltex, Toyo AT's, Wildcountry AT's all only lasted a maximum of 25,0000 miles. In my search for the holy grail of long lasting tires, I have talked with the manufacturers, hotshoters, tire reps, and the everyday guy. As in all the tire threads, everyone seems to have their own opinion. The one thing I did notice is that regardless of brand, the tires everyone recommends are the brands commercial line.

Good luck.

finally got them bought

thanks everybody for the input. . i finally got the transforce ht on the truck with the sand inside for balance. . i have to say that i am impressed so far. . it rides like a new truck. . i notice that it dont wander over the road like it did with the bfg's on the truck... thanks again for the help!!!
