Tire Load Range-

Heres a question for the tire guys (or whoever has 2c worth)-



I had a discusion {}with a friend who insists on LR E tires for load/trailer capacity. I found some tires (BFG & PROCMP 305/70) that I liked in LR D with comparible wieght capacity as a LR E. I figure that if two rear tires carry over 7000# than I am probably alright. What is the advantage or disadvantage to E when D will carry just as much weight?

To put it simply, E rated tires have 2 more plys than a D rated tire, and they have stiffer sidewalls to provide more side-to-side stability.

Even at full inflation pressures, the edges of the tread on the fronts show wear conststant with underinflation because the side walls flex too much on turns.



I'll be getting E rated tires this fall.
