First I got the truck in Dec. It had 50 PSI in all tires the tires seem to have worn even in 15,000 miles. I was going to put 70 PSI in them. Well I did except the inner rears. How do you get the valve stem cap off? Is there a valve extender or do you need to pull the tire off? Opinions on the pressure? I carry abouyt 1000 pounds and pull a car trailer with a Vette. Thanks!

I made a “wrench” for the inside valve cap. Take a 3/8” x 6” (or longer) bolt. Screw a 3/8” rod coupling onto the bolt, than coat the inside of the rod coupling with silicone (not to thick). Getting the cap off and on is a piece of cake.

I run 40psi rear, 55psi front with the camper off. I add 15 to 20psi to both front and rear with the camper on, depending on the anticipated amount of highway driving.

My '99 3500 came with extenders. I run 70psi at all times whether my camper is on or not. After taking the camper off I use to air down, but got tired of doing it, and 95% of my driving is with the camper. With the camper I'm at 11,400 GVW. I don't rotate the tires and after 32,000 miles the wear is even on all tires.

Don't leave those rear tires unevenly inflated for long - the inside tires will begin to drag and heat up, increasing your chances of a blowout.

Empty, I run 60psi front, 35 rear summer/40 rear winter. I used to run 75/40 but that tended to really wear the front tires on the outside rib.

Currently running Michelin LTX M/S Commercial, a slightly tougher carcass than the LTX M/S that is OEM'd. Srock size of 215/85R16E, put these on in April replacing a set of Bridgestone M773 commercial all-terrains. Doing more highway work and needed a better pavement tire. The Bridgestones were pretty good, got three years out of them.

Diesel Dog,

To get the inner valve cap off use a 3/8" socket and a 6" extension> It works perfect to get the caps on or off! For pressure I use 65lbs. front--50 rear towing--45 rear empty(about 500 or 600 lbs of weight.

I follow the sidewall comments on my Michelin XPS LT 215/85 R 16s.

I run empty 99. 9 % of the time so it is about 5 PSI below that max pressure on tire wall.

1995 3500, Borgenson Shaft, Piers HX 35, 3 piece manifold ceramic coated, 180 Hi Flow Injectors bye 160's, 2 guage pillar with DiPricol EGT and AutoTranny and 3 guage dash mount sitting on dash to see if I like it. Lukes Link, rebuilt steering box, Bilstien shocks. KDP in da woiks, then after collecting more beer cans,;)

New transmission!!!!

Same for me. I run 75psi on all six. Make sure you have load range "E" tires that are rated for 80psi.

I ran that pressure on some cheap-a__ Kelly-Springfield E-rated tires that were on my truck when I bought it used. Ran 50,000 mi of even wear with one rotation. Now I am in the process of rolling in some Michelin 235-85R16E LTS/ATs. I put two on the front, and now I am saving to put four on the back.

Go to your local tire store. Most can get a reinforced hose extender that clips to the rim of your outside dual.

Has anyone seen the Wheel Masters Equalization tool? I just purchased one from Camping world. This thing is great. However, I am not sure if you are supposed to leave the rear valve caps off all the time. There is one end that is about 6" long that slips over the valve and pushes down and then the other end slips over the front. This allows you to air up or down both tires at the same time. Seems to work pretty good so far. I have only played with it once since getting it.
