I recently purchased a set of Mopar steel wheels for my wife's Charger RT (Mopar options for the police package) that I will use for winter/snow tires.

She has the tire pressure sensor system on her current set of OEM alum. wheels.

In my search for a source for the TPSs for the new wheels I read a thread on another forum that TPS does not work with steel wheels.

Since I trust the TDR forum members are a bit more informed than members on most other forums, I figured I ask the question here.

Is it true that the TPS system does not work with steel wheels?

If not, is there a way that the dealer can deactivate the TPS system so the idiot light isn't displayed all winter?

you could buy a new set of sensors and put them in the steel wheels. all the sensor is, is a deferent style valve stem that has a sensor on it that reads to the BCM. i dont see why you could not put the sensors in the steel wheels also.

That's what I was originally thinking. I guess I'll have to give the dealer a call.
