I replaced my original Michelin LTX 215 85 R 16 with another set of the same at 60K from Costco. The tires all wore evanly but the fronts were down a bit more than the rears but even wear. I only rotated them once.
I had the fronts done first because they only had two in stock, I had to bring the truck back because I FELT A VIBRATION at 65 mph, re balancing did not help. When I got the other 4 on the rear nothing changed. Well now that I have put 6K on them thought I would rotate them and go for another balance. Still did not help. Now I notice that one of the tires that was originally on the front has an unusual type of tread wear. Each of the tread (knobs if you will) is worn at a slant front to back across the width of the tire, it also was starting to make noise/ vibration at 25 mph. Moving the fronts to the inside rear on the rotation there still is a vibration but it feels different as if it it coming from the rear. The guy that did the tire rotation said it was because of towing heavy and that is B. S. cuz the other tires wore so well.
So... do I have a defective tire? If it continues to wear like it has it will be shot way before the rest. I have never seen this before and the ride bothers me alot when I am crusing at 70 mph.
Any comments? Thanks and Happy New Year. Roger
