Disc Brakes on small trailer

Winter finally showed up........and more work!

I have been very happy with Good Year Endurance trailer tire. I put them on our travel trailer in 2017 and am due to change them out in the spring. No problems from them and rarely if ever have to add any air. Usually just an adjustment in the spring and fall when the temperatures change.
I plan to buy them again. They are manufactured in the USA.

Good luck finding any. I read that Goodyear is pausing production on the Endurance line of tires temporarily to concentrate on "emergency vehicle " tires. Due to pandemic labor shortages.

GY ENDURANCE, 4 years on my Boat Trailer towing at 75mph with at least 20k on them. Do an internet search, you will not find a non road hazard blowout on one of these tires.

If you do have an issue GY will cover the tire and any damages for 5 years. Oh yea they are US Made!!!

I asked Discount tire Manager about this "tire shortage" he said no shortage!

Switch to 16” LT tires. 225/75R16 is what I went to. I switch all my trailers to LT tires when the ST’s need replaced.

If you want to stick with ST then the GY Endurance gets my vote as well.

Check also Amazon if your Dealers around don't have them.
I found mine ONLY there, everywhere else they were out of stock.
Sorry

X2. However the 16" GY Endurance was all crying "Uncle" on my 5th Wheel. All Warranty. Went back to the 16" LT like the prior owner was using. (OEM was 15") I went with Michelin XPS aka steel casing...

I do not like the shallow tread depth of the GY Endurance because less rubber between you and a puncture. Then the hydroplaning thing on shallow tread.

So you chuck all your tires at 1/4" or 8/32" ?

I tow my Boat trailer at 75mph all Summer long NW WA in Sun and HEAVY rain never slowing and never hydrplaning. I am still legal with no issues at 20k or more.

View attachment 131435 Got a late start this morning leaving Flagstaff AZ after having 4 new Goodyears put on the money pit. Damm! I'm just trying to get home lol! 2 blow outs, and 1 puncture flat in 3 days. Getting tired of rolling around on hot asphalt.

Bummer…. But that’s why I won’t spend money on ST tires.

The asphalt isn’t the problem, it’s just showing you the issues with ST tires.

Best advice is to change to a 16" wheel and run LT's if you can. I have a couple trailers that I don't feel like modifying. I just expect them to tread separate around year three, maybe get four years out of them. I run some Taiwanese E rated steel belted wonders, at least they are half the price of the badyears. I've been using the MasterTrack 225R15 E's, they have been holding up good under my heavy toy hauler. 80 psi, steel belted, no weird wear so far. I like them better than the Maxxis tires. I've run two sets on my RV and a spare, I'm okay with the performance for the price. They were $65 $70 per tire a while back and now they run about $90 at Walmart.

That's not the only criteria for scrapping tires of course. When GY says it's a shallow tread they are not kidding. The last LT set I tossed due to age off my RV had more tread depth than the 8/32nds GY ST's have new. The XPS Rib has a deeper tread at 15/32nds. I will likely scrap the XPS due to old age with more than 8/32 on them.

As they age out vs. wear out tread depth is not #1 on the list. However that depth was the difference between "road hazard" from a tread cut on one tire and GY warranty on the other 3 that were cracking the tread.
