So the manual says to swap the tires front to back on the same side. I have seen them swapped front left to right rear, right rear to right front and so on. That makes more sense to me because the tread gets worn going both directions. Is there a reason to not do it this way? Is there a better way? I have the stock BFG's on stock rims on my '06; it's a SRW.

Assuming bi-directional tread, move the fronts to their opposite side rear position and move the backs straight forward. On the forth rotation, each wheel returns to its factory location. Original Michelin LTX 265's have 44k and are rotated every 5-6K. . never re-balanced and wearing evenly with 15-20K miles of safe tread remaining. I rotate them myself because I watched somebody else do it the first time.

somebody mentioned to me a short time ago doing it kowaliga's way would screw up the belts in the tires. I personally have never had a problem tho and still do it that way. :)

i've never had any luck reversing direction on tires that have been rolling for a while, the belts start backing up and the tread gets lumpy, been able to save a few by switching them back, so i don't reverse just front to back, with a dually i guess you could take the outer rear and put it on the opposite side front and not reverse the direction
