I'm debating which size tires to use this next time around. My questions concerns tire wear. If everything else is equal (same truck, driving conditions, etc. ) then will a wider tire (say 265/75R16) wear better than a narrower tire (say 235/85R16). I'm assuming all tires are the same load range E.

I've been told that wider tires yield more contact to spread the load over, therefore better/longer tread life. I've also been told that wider tires will tend to arch or balloon creating uneven wear with the center taking most of the load.

Any advice or experience?

Thanks

Ron

Not really sure either way, I ran a larger tire than stock last time (285/75R17's) and they seemed kinda wide for the rim and were wearing the centers a little more than normal. Plus, with the stock size, I don't seem to have any wandering or premature wearing of the tie rods, or anything. Either way, I ran larger tires and while they look great, I don't think they do enough to warrant their extra cost, to me that is. Scotty
