Years ago I found a set of Bridgestons that had 4 steel ply treads, 2 steel ply side walls. Fantastic stability, NO sway.
Looking for new sneakers for my 98 2500 I discovered Path Trac tires at the Penske Tire Center, attached to my local K-mart. They are the standard construction, 10 ply E rated. They remind me very much of the Bridgstones - none of the mushyness and roll associated with the OEM Wranglers - the truck handles like a very long heavy sportscar<G>. The best part: $380 drive-away for 4 of them.
They are manufactured for Penske by Goodyear - I would assume for their rental/lease fleet.
If you need rubber, and you are in Penske country, you might take a look.
