It's time for some new meats- again. This time I want to treat the rig to some nice stuff. I was thinking of either the Alcoa star wheels or the Mickey T classic forged Alum. wheels with a mild tread and an "E" load rating (I tow). What are you guys using? How big and wide have we gone without trimming wheelwells or raising the truck? I would have tried the search, but it's down.

Thanks!

I have 285/75/16 and they fit fine without rubbing. My springs have been re-arched though. I have heard of some rigs they wont fit on, but from what I have been told they fit most 4X4 first gens. I know that the 285's are offered in an "E" load range but I cant remember which brand. They are pretty rare. I hope I have been somewhat of a hlep.

tire size

My 93 4x4 3/4 has 265/75/16 from Big O. They were on when I got the truck, but seem to clear fine. Only option I know of is extra spring on rear. Good luck.

I have 285/75/16's on mine and I sit at stock height with no problems. I tried a 315 form a friends truck and it rubed on the front fender. But I'm sure if I went up a couple inches it would be fine.

hope this helps

"W" or "D" series

Hey Wayne!:)

Are you a "W" (4x4) or a "D" (2 whl. drv. )?

I assume 4x4 but I'm not certain.

If I was a 4x4 "tow'er" I would consider a set of 255/85/16's in a "E" rating. These tires are 33. 3" in diameter and fit w/o rubbing. They are more 'narrow' then many of the "75" series tires but give great load rating an MPG is maintained w/ the narrow width.

I'm a W. I have 245's on the stock steelies. So far I like what I hear. How about rim widths and experiences with aftermarket wheels?

You Guys always come through! :)

My 285's are mounted on factory chrome '97 Ram wheels. I'm not sure of the width or backspacing. They work great. Though, I don't think it would hurt to go a little wider.

33x12.50x16.5

I'm running 33x12. 50x16. 5's on white spokes. The tires only rub if i turn sharp into a driveway that has a dip in it. I think the front springs are sagging a little though. I plan on putting an add-a-leaf (2") in the front to correct this problem. :D
