anyone have any expirience with or know anything about the Mastercraft Courser M/T's or the Cooper Courser Traction LT. i like booth tire, was just wonder how they compair to bfgoodrich m/t or the pro comp m/t, and anyother competitors.

I've ran the mastercraft AP and the mastercraft LT with very good results. Average life is about 40k. They are an excellent snow tire... I did limited offroad with the LTs and they seemed fine.

After owning a set of BFG 315x17 AT/ko's, I'll never own another set of BFG light truck tires. Impossible to balance, out of round, junk. And these OE rugged trail are junk too.

My next set of tires will be a LT235x80r17 MasterCraft SRS for winter... and maybe a set of either AP, LT, or CTs for summer in the 35 inch flavor...

thanks for the input. thats good to know. I always heard that the BFG's were good tires. and i always thought that the m/t's were some of the best out. its good to hear some other opinions. thanks

not sure about the specific tread patterns you refer to but my mother in law is a rural mail carrier and mastercrafts are the tire of choice for ALL the mail carriers in this area ...

a good friend has a surveying business in the coal fields in central and southern wv and told me that bfg mt's had soft sidewalls ... he switched to mastercraft mud tread (don't know the pattern) and hasn't had a problem since ... his fleet is 1 second gen and three third gen cummins now so he is a pretty good reference

so due to all the peer pressure ...

i recently put on a set of mastercraft ht's on my '01 dually and the guy at the tire shop chuckled when i mentioned the 60k mile warranty ... "these things wear like steel ... you won't even have to rotate them"

i rotated at 10k and the only noticeable wear was on the outside edge of the fronts ... and not much at that

good luck and post your results

maybe you got a bad set of the 315's??? my 315's are very nicely balanced up to 130kph [±80mph] with weights only on the inside [one has no weights at all] above that speed it gets a little vibration but i don't regularly go past 60mph so it doesn't bother me

For $900, there should be a little better quality control...

Mine were out of round over 3/4" by the time I got them off... and I don't offroad. That was nothing but road miles. And then the shop wouldn't do anything about them... they supposedly have no warranty.

For $175/tire, I'll buy MasterCrafts next time...

I had a set of the Courser-CT's and they wore very well, handled nicely, but they were a bit noisy. Since then I've tried some Firestones and some Dean tires (also made by Cooper). The stones were good, but the Deans seem to wear awfully fast. I'm planning on Mastercrafts next time, either the AT or HT, not sure yet which.

I've had Cooper STs and have driven the Mastercrafts on company trucks. I like them enough that I would get them again. However, I've gone to the 19. 5s, so they no longer are an option.

I had a bad experience with Cooper. Seperation at 30,000. Tire was fully inflated and had not lost any pressure. The best tire company is Michelin according to J. D. Powers report I found on the internet. More money but you tires are where the rubber meets the road. Some are against the Michelins because they are made in France. Stop and think, they never shot at us but the Japanese did.

is there a good place on the net to find these tires, i have courser mt's now but need a set of road tires for summer on my big rims. 33x12. 50 r 16. 5

Burchfield, better check ww2 history, the French did shot at us...
Thanks, I was not in France, I was in the Philippines during WWII. Escaped in Nov 43 at age 15. Did not care where I was going as long as I was leaving there. Spent 3 months in Australia and then went to California. Joined the USAF in 48 and was in Korea the day after it started. On duty daylight to dark 7 days per week for 18 months repairing battle damaged Jet Fighter Aircraft. Had never seen TV until I returned to the US and then it was a 6 inch black and white. We just were not as informed in those days. I liked that better, did not have to hear about all the garbage we are fed on TV today. Yes I know how to turn the TV off and I do when I have "had it". The good programs are ruined with commercials. Can't win.

I had 265/75/16 BFG A/T KOs on my 2001 and was not very impressed with them either. Tire shop never could get them balanced, they replaced 2 for being out of round, sidewalls were soft, etc. Way overpriced for what they are.
