Sorry if this is a common topic, but I know tire choice is important, at least to me. I just picked up my 2006 Mega Cab 4x4. It has 35x12. 5x20 Toyo MT's on it and I like the style of them. Not usually much of a Mud Terrain guy, but these look cool.

Anyway, since the previous owner did not address some steering issues, one of the tires is pretty close to worn out. A shame since the others are ~ 30%.

My question is what should I buy as a replacement ? I am going to keep the 20's so that limits my choices a little.

* I live in Wisconsin so snow, rain, sleet and ice are all in the equation.

* I will not take the vehicle off-road much but do hunt and cut my own firewood so muddy trails are the worst it will ever see.

* As for towing, smaller camper (~7,000 #) and car trailers here and there.

I was looking at staying with the Toyo MT's or maybe a Mickey Thompson ATZ.

All thoughts and opinions are welcome.

You may want to condier the Toyo AT. A bit less aggressive but a better snow/hauling/towing tire in many peoples opinion. I'm getting a set this week.

Used Nitto Terra Graplers in 265-75 - 17 on mine til I retired, then put 285-70 X 17 Nitto Dura Graplers on and am very happy with them went to 70 series that were a little smaller diameter for towing - - - about 1850 RPM at 65MPH

How many miles are the Nitto's good for? I have three friends that run the Toyo Mt's for their load carrying capacity.

I have been looking into tires and if I remember correctly the Terra Grapplers have no tread warranty while the Dura Grapplers have a 65,000 mile tread warranty. I currently have the Toyo A/T that have a 50,000 mile tread warranty and I only got a little over 30,000 out of them. In order for Les Swabb to warranty them out though they have to be down to 2/32 which is basically bald in my opinion and not enough tread for winter conditions. It might be enough on bare pavement in warmer climates.

Dura Grapplers have 45000 mile warranty, not 65000. That's for the LT tire, which is what we need (E rated). It's on their website. No LT (E rated) tire will come with 65000 mile warranty. I like the looks of this tire though, if it were not that pricey, I will try it, but it was almost identical to the Michelins, so I got the Michelins AT2.

I am on my second set of Toyo AT's and love them. Got 48K out of the first set and was not at the wear bars yet but had winter coming and wanted new tread. They are E rated, run quiet, and are great in ice and snow. Truck came with Michelins and they will last a LONG time but after two winters with them never again. They were like running on ball bearings in the ice.

Thanks for everyones response.

I ordered a set of Toyo MT's on Monday and hope to have them installed next week. The deal breaker was that my wife really liked the look of the MT's. Guess I will see how long they last and take that into consideration when buying the next set.

Great choice, I'm on my second set..... The first set lasted just over 40k miles, some heavy towing and a few nasty burnouts.
