For my next set of tires I thought I'd go with size LT285-70R17 Load Range E all-terrain style. I see that Nitto and Toyo, and perhaps others, sell that size tire.

Also, I'd like some reassurance that the 285's will fit in the spare tire area.

Any suggestions?

By the way, I am disappointed in my last set of tires, Bridgestone Dueler LT265-70R17E Revo. They have 16,000 miles on them and are nearly worn out.

Thanks,

Glenn

I have the Toyo's 285's E rated. No complaints. 285's will fit for the spare w/ no problem. Some say 315"s fit under. Can't help you w/ the Nitto's because I never owned a set.

285-75-17 TOYOs

I've got the Toyo 285's also, but would get the available new size which is 285-75-17 AT,load range E. It's 33. 8" tall and will fit without rubbing and will fit in the spare area. This size wasn't available when I got mine. They are listed on the Toyo Canada site but are available from your Toyo distributor or online.

I don't think you'll be much happier with the Toyos. Talk about wearing out fast... the set I had on my truck were gone within a year. I'm back to the good old BFG's, hard as rocks, slick as snot when its wet but they last a little longer...

I would recommend the Michelin LTX AS. They are more money but have great traction and I got 85000 miles and could have pushed more probably.

I've got the Nitto Terra's in 285/70r17. Very nice riding tire. Looks good and performs well. I don't think I'll get more than 35-40,000 miles outta them. Which is fine by me... especially with the weight of the Cummins.

i have the nitto's on my truck now and they are worn out bad. i have less than 25,000 miles on them. they have been a very good traction tire in all terrains. thay do very well in wet weather. just wear out way to fast. i hear the toyo's last longer. i think my next set of tires will be the BFG AT KO 285/70-17.

I have the Nitto 285's... . great tire, but cant speak to longevity as i only have 8k on them..... I do like the new Toyo AT Size... will consider that when replacements are needed

I have the BFG AT's 33" but I did put a leveling kit in. I have 201k on the truck and just put on my 5th set a few months back. I am getting between 45-50k on these tires and cant ask for more if you want a little more aggressive looking tire.

I've got Procomp Xtreme All-Terrain (e-load range) and have been happy so far. They do howl a little bit though. Had the e-load range BFG A/T been available I would have looked serious at that, but it only recently became available.

I have had the Toyo's for 10,000 miles so far and they have been great. Nice ride, quiet, good traction in the snow and ice. The main reason I got rid of the slick Michilen's which I hated in the ice. And at current wear rate I should see at least 50,000 miles a set.
