Who's running these? I'm looking at 285x75x16s for my 99 & am wondering what kind of mileage & performance to expect..... Any info, good or bad would be appreciated. Road noise, etc.

Thanks!

Clay

They are nice, but wear extremely fast. Dockboy had a set on his truck and so did a local MDTDC member. His are wearing fast also.

I am running 325/50/22's and they are a great tire. Much less road noise than the baja claws and the bfg a/t's I was running. They are wearing great IMHO. I plan on buying them again when the time comes around.

I'm running the Nitto AT 285-75-16's on my truck, I have 36,000 miles on them and should get about 10,000 more out of them.

Klaybus - Just put my 305X70X16 Nitto TG's on today w/dyna beads. SO MUCH OF A NOTICABLE difference from my Coopers. only about a dozen miles or so - so to early to tell anything other than the usual "rides like a different truck w/new tires on it".

Got them @ http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direct/home.do $165. each - free shipping!!!

I have 295/75/16s and I like them but with 13,000 miles on them they are half gone and if you dont have at least 50lbs of air in the fronts they look to flat and bulged out I dont plan on buying another set.

I've got 305's on my 97 and 285's on my 1st Gen, both have been wearing good, low noise, and ride good. They do good in mud and harder rocky terrain. I'd buy another set.

I'm happy with mine. I would have to check how many miles are on them, but at this point I would not hesitate to buy them again.

Cool, thanks for that link. I took a look at that site and found it interesting they list the availability in different areas for specific tires and sizes.

I wanted the 295/70R17 but they were on back order with no date available so I went with Dick Cepek's. A little more road noise but they don't pick up rocks like the Toyo Open Country AT's I had which is a very similar tread to the Terra Grappler.

I hate it when those rocks let loose at speed!

I've had a set of 305-70-16's on mine since february 12th. I've put right at 15,000 miles on them so far. they've done everything from haul a 4,000lb cabover camper (about 5 times now), haul a 20K gooseneck trailer full of tires, to commute 60 miles a day everyday, used extensivley in the sand, and somewhat in the mud. they have worked good for everything I've done.

I run about 32-34psi in the rears when the truck is empty, and about 48 or so in the fronts. It rides nice. At 15,000 miles, they are getting close to half-life. I measure the tread depth every time I change/check the pressure (which is very regular). I figure I'll get about 36-40K out of them.

They are quiet, and stable. Im hauling a 11' Lance camper on a shortbed single wheel truck, and at 65psi, there is very little sidewall flex compared to all the other tires I've tried that were D (obviously).

I'd buy another set. ;)

Just put them on with Eagle 058. The truck looks 5 times better with the 285/75/16 compared to the 245/75.

They make no noise I can hear with the window down and in neutral from 30-60.

They are D's but no jumping, drives straight, a little bulging but they are at 49 or so both front and back.

Where should I run the pressures empty? The wheels are 16x8

I've got the 305/70/16s. They are the same dia. as the 285s but are load range E. I've got about 14k miles on mine and they are just now showing some wear. I should have rotated them before now but I will in the future. I hope to get about 40-45k out of them... maybe more. In addition; they are great tires for the price... . $175 mounted & balanced.

Got My New Tires

Went with the BFG's! I've never owned a set so I thought I would give them a try. I got the 295x75x16's for $178 ea. at Discount Tire. Hope they perform as well as others have said. Sure a smooth riding tire & don't look too bad either.

I ran over 50K on 305/70R16s. Part time towing a 30 foot camper, part time with a heavy truck camper. They worked great and I recommend them. I would have purchased again, but wanted a slightly narrower tire (285/75). The Nittos don't have adequate weight rating in that size. Thus, I've now got new BFG AT's in the 285 size.
