Okay Have the stock Michilens Looking for something better. Want to keep the stock wheels, just a much better tire for Mostly Highway/City and a bit of offroad. Would like to keep the "E" rating just in case i need it for haulung some thing. Just keep it simple... PLEASE :) What are my "size" choices I intend to run "stock", no lift kits Nothing!

THANKS!

You should be able to go one size bigger on the tire with your rims. Example is my stock were 265x16 and I now have 258x16 with the same rim. A good tire dealer should be able to help you out. That will give you a little more tread to the ground and you should be able to keep the rating. Got mine at Less Schwab. Had them siped for better performance and I am running Centramatic balancers on each wheel. Makes for a very smooth ride and my mileage and wear on the tread is very good. I have a set of Toyo's

285's

I did the same as above. E rated toyo's at 285/75/16. No suspension mods and no problems. If I were doing mostly highway I would have gone with a bit less tread. Les Shwab too. their customer service is excellent just don't buy their house brand batteries. had two fail on my last 1500. About $650 for the four with mounting and balance.

I think you are going to have to go to a 285/70R17 which fit fine and be happy with D rated in a Toyo Open Country or BFG All Terrain T/A

E rated tires in the size you had means to go with the same thing.

You can also go with a 295 70 17 nitto grappler. They are a D rated Tire with Just a little over 3400Lb rating. There website states 3195 but the tire states different.

I'm putting a set of Mastercraft Courser C/T 33/12. 50/17 on my truck as soon as the local dealer can get them. There'r only a D rated tire though. They do make a 265/70/17 in an E rated however. Nice tire, good looking, good all terain tire. They do come in a 275/70/17, but are only a C rated tire. I've looked around and the 33/12. 50's look pretty good on stock rims, and haven't heard of them rubbing anything yet.

Somebody posted on this forum awhile back about a 285/75/17 in an E rating, maybe it was a 295/75/17 E. I don't remember who the manufacturer was. I'll try a search for it.

i put a set of truxxus 33 12. 50 17 on e rating excellent mud/snow tire no clearance problems
Is it this one:

#ad

They say it's super quiet but the tread looks noisy. How is the road noise on yours?

that's them Matt :) so far so good. the weather is cool here,30,s don"t know how they will be when it warms up to the 90s. they are very quiet for a mud tire. they said on the web sight they was designed to run quiet, only problem is they took alot of weight to balance. I'm going to switch over to balanceing beads soon. I tried'em out in wife's garden :--) ,stuck truck in 2 wh. pull in 4hi walked right out

You can go to 315-70-17 on stock rims with no problem. Most are D load range, though some have found them in E ratings. Search. I just love my BFG A/T in 315.

Ohh I'm sure your Wife liked that :) New type of roto tilling? hehehe. Kinda looked real hard at the Nitto's, but sure did love my old 2x4 and the BFG AT's Never once a problem. Just kinda worried about the "D" rating on them with the CTD in the new 2005. Also BFG seems to be getting bigheaded & big priced on those AT's got 4 on the old Ram $500. 00 mounted, balanced and everything + a 50. 00 US Savings bond :) The old truck may need some new rubber too but the AT's are way more pricey then they used to be. Hmmmmmmm Wonder if dealer would give me a break if I buy 2 sets of 4 each :)

Oh and thanks guys for a lot of good info... ... But all I really was looking at was SIZES Damn it I'm an American and don't do metric :) What the heck is 33 12. 50 17 :)

305/70/17

Another fine example of how we mix the english and metric systems. 305 is in MM but 17 is in inches. Then there is the 35mm camera with a 135mm lens that focuses to 8 feet or 4"x6" pictures from 33mm film. How about atttaching a 17mm socket to a 1/2" ratchet.

33 inches tall 12 1/2inches wide 17inch rim. Boy i wish i could of gotten them for that price, right at $200 a pop ,but they were cheaper than the TOYOs I got a quote on

I was noticing in the last issue of Four Wheeler mag that TOYO now has a number of 17 inch tires including a 235. Personally, I think TOYO makes a good tire, especially the M55s.

Unfortunately, the ad had an F150 in it and it burst into flames. :-laf

:-laf :-laf They say its from the cruise control deactivation switch on the Master Cylinder but most figure its a spontaneous combustion from end of life cycle!
