I have had problems in the past with my BFGs staying balanced :confused: , Has anyone had or have issues with tire spinning on the rims?

I doubt they are spinning on the rim. I have run them down to 12 psi w/out any slipping. I do see them needing to be rebalanced during their life on a regular bassis.

Losing Weights

One of my BFG's requires 9 oz's of weight and constantly spins them off. The other three tires take maybe 2-3 1/2 ozs. and have never been a problem. Discount refuses to replace the one tire and says everything's "normal". The installers tell on the side that the rim protector creates problems with the weights sticking. They see them all the time. I think its just the one tire. I've e-mailed Discount w/no reply and BFG who tell me everything's fine and to take 'em back to Discount who rebalances them only to have the one tire toss 'em again. :{ Good sturdy tires but a pain in the ***.

I had out of balance problems for 8 or 10 months with BFGs. I never would believe that a tire could turn on the rim, I don't air down' but following a nail repair, I noticed the crayon mark had moved. Discount replaced several of them trying to resolve why a tire would be in balance one day and 6 or 8 ozs out the next. Got rid of them and went with Toyo's. Never had a problem since.

turning on rim

A mechanic/friend has always recommended waiting for new tires to "seat" before balancing. He says that the tires definitely do move on the rims, not so much from acceleration as from braking force.

:cool: Yeah,I bought some forged '05 rims and plan to go with Toyo M/T's next. Their sale just ended so I'll have to wait. I can probably get some more rebalances in! :{

I had this issue with my 99 (and a stock 215HP CTD to boot)... it can happen. If you think you have this problem, you have three ways to cure it... have them tar the rims to the tires (they use a rubber sealant on the beads), use balance beads or centrimatics/balancemasters, or change rims.
