tires wearing out

Does any one have a problem with tires wearing out before 40,000

I can't seem to get between 30. 000 & 35,000 out of a set. It came with Good Year on the truck new . I kept them rotated between 5,000 & 6,000 miles proper air pressure and front end alignment. Think I try Michelin next.

Try the Michelin LTX/MS, they wear better than the Badyears.

You are rotating them about right. I did not see a sig. I got a lot less wear on my 2500 compared to my 3500. The 2500 just ate rear tires. The 3500 because of the training wheels sticks a lot better.



Tire pressure and weight you are carrying are also factors. I had to play with my tire pressure over a lot of rotations to get to the best presure: 60-62PSI fronts and 40PSI rears. This is unloaded. I did this by checking the wear patterns across the face of the tread.



My 3500 cames with the Michelin LTX/MS. They are a good street tire: quiet and long lasting. But I can't say that I like them for mud and snow. They tend to load up and spin. I will look for something a little more aggressive for M/S. I have 69K miles on this set. I will probably get another 5K miles out of them.

Just turned 81,000 and am going from NM to Cal and back this weekend. Will need new tires as soon as I get back. These are the original tires.



Usually run 52 front, 42 rear unloaded and 60- 52 loaded.

I've concluded that it really depends a lot on where/how you drive the truck. I do a fair amount of town driving along with travelling a curvey secondary road to the hills every weekend and I wore my stock Michelins out at 30,000. Talked to a lot of RVers that do miles and miles of straight running down the highway and got 2 or 3 times the miles that I got. The stock Michelins were one of the worst traction tires I've ever had. Got a set of BF Goodrich 285's on now and they really bite!!
