Well the time has come for some new tires ... . Had Bridgestone Duelers A/T, they were decent just looking for something new. Was hoping someone who has had the following tires will chime in and point out any pro's and con's. Leave the price out of it, with free shipping on the Nitto's its only about $20 difference.

Yokohama Geolandar A/T Plus II from tirerack.com Size: 285/75SR16

Nitto Terra Grappler from discount tire LT295/75R16D1

I like the fact the Geolandar's are S speed rated. But I like the fact that the Nitto's are slightly larger. So let me hear what you have to say about either tire. Anyone that has 295's... . any rubbing with stock suspension?

thanks in advance auto truck w/4. 10's

Kat,

I have the Nitto Terra Grappler size 295/70/17. They've been on for about a month and so far I have no complaints. They handle the road good and are quiet. I have a stock suspension and have not had any rubbing lock to lock. They look good and give the truck a tougher stance. I have got alot of compliments since the install. Pictures in my gallery. Let me know if you need more info.

I have the Nittos but unfortuntely have never owned the Yokohamas. I am happy with the Nittos. I think they will last longer than the Yoko's as they have a higher tread wear rating. FWIW - Dad's truck will probably get a set of Yoko's because for the price I found them at you cant beat 'em.

I have a set of the Yokohama Geolander II+ size 265/75R16D on my 95 Yukon. I had them siped. I find that despite the aggressive tread pattern, they are quiet. Just a low frequency rumble. Good traction, the truck feels glued to the road wet or dry. They handle good. They seem to be wearing ok, not enough miles on them to really say.

Hope this helps...

Anyone had them in the snow yet? I'm seriously leaning towards the Nitto's due to the slight size increase.

Anyone running 295's with a leveli kit on the front and still fit in a standard 7ft garage door????????? That's the biggst question mark. If I get the Nitto's I'm sure down the road I'll get the D25 coils or the Trex coils for the truck.

I have been running Geolander HT-S in 265/75-16 for about a year. Awsum on dry and wet roads. With a 2wd I can't say too much about snow traction other than I got where I needed to go last winter with the help of a little weight.

I ran a set of Yokomama Geolander2's on my other truck and they were the best snow tire I have ever owned. It felt as if I had positrac front and rear, which I did'nt. Quiet on dry roads, great traction any condition. Would definitely recommend them! Good Luck!

I have 295/75/16 BFG TA KOs with the T-Rex coils and rear mini leafs and measured in a gravel drive after dark  it looks to be right at 80" tall with me standing on the step bar.
