my 98. 5 had good year oem. I have used michlin since now on 2nd. set Ltx. work well on 2wd. we dont get a lot of snow here. however I havent had any problems if I put some sand bags over the rear wheels.

I just got a new set of Pirelli Scorpions for my 99 RAM2500 CTD. From Discount Tire. Previous set of same tires performed well until tread wore out. Excellent tires. A little softer rubber than Michelin, which I like because it smooths out the ride a bit. Don't last quite as long as Michelins (because Michelin uses _very_ hard rubber), but they cost a LOT less. These have two nylon "cap" plies on top of the steel belts, to reduce danger of tread separation. I strongly recommend NEVER buying a truck tire without cap plies. Learned that lesson the hard way when a Goodyear Wranger ripped apart on the highway and caused a lot of damage. Good luck!

I'm running the Yokohama Geolander HTS 285/75's on my 2wd 2500, they have 40k on them now & look like they'll make another 20K+ easy. They ride good & the traction is rated much better than the Micheline LTX's (tire rack) that were my 1st choice until I priced them. I wound up putting a set on my wife's SUV to replace the Michelin Symetry's that were on it.
