Titan Fuel tanks?

Thanks, TDR Staff

My latest load with my 54' trailer...

Looking for a trailer to go west...

After doing some research (maybe not enough?) I ordered an after-market tank from these guys. (http://www.xxtank.com/)

My credit card was debited immediately but I can not get them to respond via email or phone after more than a week on shipping information or order confirmation. :(

Their site has install instructions for a GM online but not the Dodge. The web site states "bolt-on installation", but the install instructions for the GM have the frame being drilled.

Has anyone here dealt with these people before and could you let me know how the install went?

So far, I give their customer service the lowest possible rating. :p

Aero Tanks

I am thinking about areo tanks my self. They offer a 75 gallon tank for the long bed trucks and your spare tire only hangs 6" lower than stock. I hope i can still use a fifth wheel hitch with this tank.

I installed one of their Titan Supertanks on my 2005. It's pretty straight forward and is a basic "bolt on" application. You have to get vent and fuel lines off the old tank to lower it down (lots easier if it is empty). Then you take the fuel pickup out of the old tank and move it to the new one. My Titan tank was 57-58 gals. I would not do this if the replacement tank was not near that capacity. Titan changed their tanks, after I got mine, and I think the new ones are smaller. Their company is a pretty small operation, so it doesn't surprise me that you don't get answers back immediately. I would not order one until you talk to them personally and get all your questions answered. The one thing I don't like about my Titan is that there are no baffles in the tank. This hasn't been a problem, but the fuel does slosh back and forth, when the tank is down below half. There are a couple of reasons I got this tank. I can get over 500 miles, while towing, the tank is not in the bed, and I can select my refuel points (perferably after I unload the fifth wheel) and not have to wonder if I can get into or out of a station. I can also make shorter trips without refueling and save money over destination stations. JMHO... ;)

Thanks Rick. The lack of reply of any kind for over 2 weeks is a concern.

When you say below 1/2 tank gets sloshy, is it to the point that the tank slosh moves the truck?

I had a tank for a truck here at the shop we had issues with. Alot of issues with customer service they did take care of it but alot of miscomunication

I posted a response to this but it isn't on the forum for some reason...

Quick response #2: Sloshing does not affect the truck at all and I only hear it when I'm parking, come to a quick stop, and get out of the truck.

I'd call them on the phone and try to get ahold of them that way... ;)

They dont answer :{ I've tried both methods, email and VM since I ordered the tank. Noone answers, not even the "emergency" number...

Thanks for the information Rick, I'll see what happens this week.

Call/write your credit card company and advise there is a problem with the purchase and you are challenging the charge/bill. As a result, you will not have to pay the bill until the problem is resolved. Your credit card company will contact Titan and advise them there is a problem (you'll have to decide how to describe the "problem" to your credit card company when you call them initially) and they (the credit card company) would like to get this problem resolved or the charge/bill is not going to be paid. Titan will likely call you very quickly following their discussion with your credit card company. This has worked for me EVEN with theatre tickets, when the show was SO BAD it could not honestly be described as "entertainment," but was more in the line of "consumer fraud. "

I wrote them an email last Monday saying I would do this in two business days if they did not respond. Still no tank (it was ordered last DEC 18th) and no word from them. I'm going to have the charge removed next week I guess...

We build our own 130 gal tanks for the bed... . they are bed high, across the front of the bed and about 18 in front to back... . we put 2 baffels front to back... to strengthen the tank so if it bumped it won't crush... we hear the fuel sometimes on a fast stop sloshing around but even with the tank 1/2 full its not enough to rock the truck... .

We slant the floor so that we can pick up 95% of the fuel and run it through a 10 micron filter with a pump on the way to the existing tank on the truck... we have a 1/2 lb back check valve so the tank won't flow with gravity and just turn on the pump when we want to move the fuel..... We've done this on 6 trucks so far with good results... ...

Its not your answer but what has worked for us... Hope it helps. .

Once you get completely clear from the Titan tank purchase you might want to consider Transfer Flow. You can't go wrong with any of the tanks TF offers and their customer service is excellent.

I tried calling them with the numbers I have and all I get is recordings to leave messages. It's beginning to seem that they are having some kind of problem because you should have had your tank by now. There is no excuse for not returning your calls, as a paying customer.

Call the company that issued your credit card and if it shows that they have a record of the charge, tell them that you did not receive the merchandise and ask them to void the charge. I would do this immediately, as you only have so many days to dispute a charge before it can't be credited back. I think it is 60 days on my card... . :(

This should not be necessary, when he has repeatedly called and left messages. There is no excuse for not returning calls. If I had gotten this type of response, when I bought mine from them, I would have cancelled the order... :(

the tank came in while I was on vacation. No instructions were included and the vent port (I think its the vent port???) was busted off due to no packing material in the box. Does anyone have a set of instructions? I have to ask here because titan tanks is unavailable. :{ I don't even know if I have the right parts or all the parts... . some of them I had to unwedge and fish out of the tank... .

Wow... I don't know what to tell you. My instructions would be different from yours as they don't make my tank anymore. They should give you the basic idea, so, if you PM your address, I'll make a copy of them and mail them to you.

I'm really disappointed in the way Titan handled this order with you. There must be some problems with the company, as they always answered my questions immediately, before I ordered. Needless to say, I will not recommend them to any others until they prove they have fixed their problems.

I don't know if I would even try to use the tank, if the vent is broken off. You may be able to fix it, but who knows. I would send them a registered letter and tell them to send another tank, provide return for the broken one, and provide full instructions. In the meantime, I would call your credit card and tell them the situation. Even if you have received the item, I think you can stop the charge, until it is settled. Their address (on my invoice) is:

Titan Fuel Tanks

805 Northgate Mile

PO Box 2225

Idaho Falls, ID 83403

I noticed that the zip code is different, on my invoice, from the zip code on their website. The rest of the address is the same.

Hope this helps... :(
