New tires for towing

Big towing with a 3/4 ton truck

I was at a RV show the other day, and have been wanting to see this RV in person and get a brochure. They look very good, and the technical data does too. I was wondering if any of the members knew anything about this brand and style of RV

Thanks

Tim

Your right, there kind of is a secret about the 'Titanium style' trailer.

Glendale RV, a large trailer firm in the Ontario area, markets the Titanium brand in the US and Canada. Their policy which they began last august will not allow Canadian Titanium dealers to sell to US citizens. This keeps the price of the Titanium up there where the profit margin is better for the US dealers. Nothing wrong with that but it prices the 'titanium style' trailer out of my price range.

But, there is 2 alternative trailers that are sold in Canada with the 'titanium style'. Interesting enough they both look like the Titanium and are in the same family of trailers that Glendale RV markets. Those trailers are 'Kustom Koach' made by TravelAire in Red Deer Alberta and the 'Genesis' (I don't know where the Genesis is made).

Quqlity is pretty much the same on these three trailers, some differences in construction and floor plans.

Price is the big issue when you buy in Canada. And, there is no issues in bringing back a Canadian trailer if it meets the DOT specs.

If you want some idea about prices and where I found would offer a good deal, send me an e-mail.

BTW, we ordered a Titanium in Vancouver BC and Glendale RV cancelled the order.

Kustom Koach is a quality trailer that has served our needs very well. They will honor the 2 year warranty and allow you to have the warranty work done in this country if work needs to be done.

:D :D :D :D

check out the Titanium site on Yahoo groups. I think you can read the messages from the website. I have been getting there messages for about 4 months now. Lots of information in the group.

It sounds like there are models available that are not listed on the glendale website.

RThompson as you said Glendale RV in Strathroy ON is the owner of Golden Falcon and Titanium. They bought Travelair in Red Deer AB which previously bought out Kustom Koach in British Columbia. I am not sure but I do not think Kustom Koach is manufactured in BC any more. Genisis is the Travelair version of the Titanium and Legend is the Kustom Koach version, both manufactured in Red Deer.

I have hauled several Titaniums and one Legend. My wife and I have looked at the Genesis and I believe it is a more solid construction.

I would agree with TowPro that not all of the models sold are on the web. I hauled a Legend which was larger then what Kustom Koach listed.

I asked a Travelair rep at an RV show why they did not actively market into the US. He said the management was comfortable serving the Canadian market and to increase in size to get into the US market quality might suffer in the long run.

A friend of mine just bought one from a dealer in NC. It is a good looking rig. The floor and cabinets look great. I have not talked to him since his camping trip. I think his is about 30 feet and he said it was 9k empty. Seems very light for the size.

We have a 33E38TS on order. Build date Nov 20. They are in the process of repositioning the axles in some of the models that is changing pin weights quite drastically. By Nov their web site should have more reliable weights displayed. I believe all the models are on their site now.

SWC... .

Thanks for the clarification on who makes what in the Glendale RV family of trailers.

My wife and I have been thru quite a few RV's and we felt like we received very good value for our money. Good trailer, good value and an outstanding dealer. Have not been this fortunate in our previous purchases.

The trailer is not without things that needed to be modified or upgraded. But the basic structure, layout and workmanship is very good.

The cabover design works as advertised and does not present the 'barn door' affect at highway speeds or in strong head winds. The trailer is tall at 12' 8" and that was a concern at first. Advertised height does not include the A/C unit.

I am 6' 2" and most of the bedroom has very good height for me to stand up. The shower is tall enough also, the addition of a skylight over the shower makes for plenty of room.

The flooring is plywood and it has good quality floor coverings. Not a lot of glitz in the interior, just a little better quallity than some and it takes a while to notice it.

I have an aversion to breakdowns on the road (field mechanic background), so I specified 6000 lb axles and XPS Michelin tires that allows for a good margin on the trailer carrying capacity.

Happy to share our experiences with this unit. :) :) :) :D

Roof

What do you people think of the roof. I know they have to cut corners to save weight but once I climbed up on the roof I was done. I could not believe how weak the roof sheathing was. That was my turn off.

Tim,

I bought a new 2002 Titanium 24E29 off the lot in the Spring of '03 and love it. We have towed it to TX and to Shenandoah Natl Park in VA and have used it almost every weekend this past summer with NO problems! PM me if you have any other questions. Hopefully the pic I posted works... first time I've done it.

I have a 29E34MS Titanium, '03 model that I have to sell. It is a beautiful rig. Right after we bought it my wife got accepted into a 3 yr. medical program that we did not expect..... it is continuous, no summer vacations, so we've decided to sell the rig since it's just gonna sit. :( Anyone interested, just holler.

Not sure that the Kustom Koach and Titanium have the same roof construction. My turn off with most trailers is the rubber roof system that is used by most manufacturers now.

I have never been comfortable walking on any rv roof. I make sure I step on the trusses when I do. I would have prefered to have heavier plywood under laymment but then there is the weight consideration and the CG goes up also. We ordered ours without the luggage railing on the roof as we don't want to bother putting things up there. The less screws thru the roof the better.

Let me have the particulars on your 5th wheel. I need contact information.

Nice Pic

MN Cummins Lvr

Paul, good looking combo. Your model is the one we looked at the RV show. I feel it is plenty big enough for us now. We have had a 23ft. pull trailer now for 25 years, however, I am ready to retire now and plan to spend a lot of time on the road. Do you think it is large enough for semi full time?

Also, where is Rockford, MN? I'm from Minneapolis.

Thanks for the Info and pic

Tim

If your roof is not designed to walk on, DON'T!! They are not structurally designed for that much weight. Normally most manufacturers will offer a "walk on roof" as an option, kinda spendy if I remember correctly. Just my 2 cents. John

heads up

Thanks for the heads up about the roofk, I'll keep that in mind when I order.
