A few tips from my guage install.
Hi JT,
I just did the same install on my '96. In two parts- boost then EGT. Finished the EGT today.
I did a bunch of research here, specifically looking for pictures. Get some good practice with the search feature and I'm sure you'll find lots of pictures of your year truck. Since I'm not too close here are a few tips.
My 2c=
-boost was really easy (there was a fitting waiting for me in the manifold)
-don't tighten the final fitting onto the plastic hose until you've decided exactly how long to make the hose
-EGT took an afternoon but was nowhere near as difficult as I had envisioned it
-I went really slowly drilling and tapping, cleaning the shavings frequently. I ended up not worrying about contamination as much I as I thought I would. I just spent alot of time magnet fishing.
-wiring:
-I waited to wire both guages together and I'm glad I did, much easier, simpler
-on '96 the wire you want on the back of the light sx is tan, the guy at Geno's told me off the top of his head which one to use, very helpful to call so you can save a lot of trial and error
-I used a piggyback connector so I only had to cut into the wire in one spot and powered all three lights on two guages from there
-mine are on the pillar so I left some slack in all the wires to ease the pillar removal, make sure they are run/coiled in a good spot underneath so as not to get chafed or cut on pedals or brake
Those are the high points, hope it helps. Overall, easy and fun install.
Don't worry, go for it!
