I should say that I previously owned a 96 auto with which I had a love/hate relationship all centered around the transmission. Truck was Banks equiped, no transmission mods and BD brake, and dumped transmission at 36,500K towing 14K 5th wheel. Sold truck and now 3 yrs later have new truck w/6k miles pulling a 29' 8500lb 5th wheel. My question is: don't want the same to happen again! (please see new truck mods below). Wife will probably kill me if I do spend more big $ mods on a perfectly good new truck, so... ... ..... do I really need BD AutoLoc and/or PressureLoc?? I am aware of what they both do. Performance is excellent now, and shifting down into 2nd while towing PacBrake does help quite a bit.

Please excuse my long windedness, but I would like to provide amplification on my previous post. As you can see by the mods on my truck, to date there have been no "invasive" mods. If I need warranty work (I am not, and don't wish to be, my own warranty station as others have put it, and I did purchase the extended warranty), I will remove the Edge and my dealer should be alright with the other mods. If I go with AutoLoc and/or PressureLoc it will be painfully obvious to the dealer. But, on the other hand, I also don't want to be penny wise and pound folish. I want my truck to hold together this time. AutoLoc ($220. 00) and PressureLoc ($275. 00) plus 1-1/2 hours installation each IS NOT exactly pennies however.

Thanks for listening to me.

Seems to me that a dealer would void the trans warrantee the minute they see a exhaust brake on an automatic. Using a exhaust brake on a factory auto will toast it in no time.

Thanks for your thoughts Chipstein. I believe that I've heard tell that the PacBrake people claim that they will send their own attorneys to help in the fight if Diamler Chrysler dispute ones warranty claim due to installation of their product.

I have a 94 CTD 4X4 with an automatic. I installed a BD exhaust brake many years back along with a "Mystry switch". (to lock TCC when desending a hill) I also installed a BD torque converter. (one of their first) The transmission held up very well until the overdrive case broke at 136,000 miles. I then installed the DTT TC and a modified valve body. The mystry switch is still active, and I use it all the time. I now have over 141,000 on the truck. I also have a friend who was the one that came up with the "mystry switch" way back when. His truck has over 165,000 miles and is still going strong with no TCC mods at all! He did install a VB upgrade kit(to increase line pressure)

Fascinating

With all the probs that you here with the factory Autos I would never had thought that it would hold up to a exhaust brake.
